Hi guys, I got E53 AMG with 20” wheels 4 months ago and I got 2 flat tires, 1 bubble, couple of bent rims already! I live in North Jersey and only use it on the weekends for short distance. Is it me or is this car just not meant for these roads?
Just took it to the service due to humming noise. The service said the wheels are bent (again??). I fixed them like a month ago and didn’t even put 1k miles on it. I might get into some potholes but i was mostly very careful.
Do you guys recommend getting a second opinion on the bent wheels?
Lastly, do you think I should trade the whole car with a model more suitable with this roads or should I just change it to 19” and most of the problems will go away?
Do you recommend 3rd party rims?
It’s my very first owned car in this area so I appreciate the replies from experienced owners. Thanks in advance!
I keep on getting flats I changed 4 tires since Jan 2022 did you get the problem solved?
Had the same problem with an m5 I had with 20” rims and low profile tires in New England. I bought my e53 with the 19” and even with the stock runflats have not had a problem.
My personal advice is to get some 19” rims and non runflats. Much more forgiving and a better ride. Big wheels and low profile tires are tough with bad roads, it’s not the car. I’ll get non runflats soon.
did you get wheel and tire insurance?
fwiw- I was told by my dealer that with wheel and tire insurance they will replace the wheel and whatever is on it. Does not have to be stock tire. I’ve done it once.

I had 19 in with winter tires and bent n aftermarket rim and did not even feel it happen! Non runflat. Still though I have a nice ride with the 19s and just bought Mich AS4 all season 19s. Unfortunately my wheel and tire ins only cover my OEM 20 in with summer runflats. I will put those on for July August. So… yes , go to 19s . I like the look better too. Not a huge fan of super low profile and the 20s on this size tire are too low for me
I ordered mine with the stock 19s for this very reason. I'm not that fond of the stock 19 design though. The five-star double spoke looks good, but what's with that extra grey ring??

I'm definitely getting the 19" on my new E53. I was hoping to be able to use 18"s but that won't fit on the AMG just the regular E-class.
Can you provide more info on the wheel/tire insurance? What insurance company is it from?
