Asked in Detailing section with no answers, so I’m trying it here.


Applied sunscreen while wearing shorts and short sleeve, puts a lot of white marks on the leather inside the car. Some don’t wipe off, and some are missed, then they stay on forever. What do you do about it?

Sorry about the leather marks. I would try leather cleaner if you haven't already. By the way, I notice you have an S63...you didn't happen to be in the east bay yesterday? I saw a silver one at my gas station.

No. My S63 is 040 Black. Thanks for the tip about leather cleaner. Doesn’t work. 🙁

Try Dr. Beasley's Leather cleaner.

A damp micro fiber towel with a tiny amount of dawn dish detergent. Then I scrubbed and scrubbed. I had it on black seats, the B pillar, and the door. My kid had out it on and then jumped in the car.

Yeah, my wife and I play tennis. So we get sweaty and gross. I get it on the console, armrest, seat, back seat, kick panel, about everything…. I wipe and it comes off as soon as I see the marks, and we both put huge beach towels on the seats to help minimize it, but still…

Nothing big, but once you know it’s there and on the back of your mind, it’s just bugging the crap out of me.

You will need a mild, PH neutral cleanser like griots interior cleaner or the aforementioned Dr. Beasley's Leather Cleaner. A fine, soft bristled detail brush will help agitate into the pores of the leather (make little circles) until a nice foam is developed, then wipe away.

The remnants you see are sitting in the tiny cracks/crevices in the leather and will need the above brush technique to remove. Rubbing will chafe the leather.

Thank you sir. I have ordered Dr. Beasley’s and will commence this cleaning task, with lots of elbow grease, when it arrives.

Dont put in too much elbow grease... a gentle agitation is all that is needed.

Don't use a microfiber cloth on the Dinamica fabric. I recommend a soft cotton cloth or an old t-shirt. Good luck removing the marks.
