In the market for a w213. Any advice?
So i currently own a 2015 e63s with 55k miles i was looking to sell it and upgrade to a w213. Cant find a lot of options because of the shortage. Is there any option i should specifically look for when buying one?. Plus every 2018 2019 e63s i find it has tons of maintenance history at a young age! And most of them are lemon/buyback titles. Are they not reliable? After watching so many carfax now im kinda afraid of upgrading because i always buy cars without any warranty! Prices are crazy high cheapest one i found was 88k in IL with 28k miles black color.
dealer is offering 43k for my car.
Thanks.

from my own experience: regret selling my 2019 before the summer …
anyway, if you really want to upgrade my advice will be 2019… there is another thread on this forum explaining the difference between the 2018 and 2019
hope this helps

Ooops, you're looking for an E63. I ordered an E53. Sorry.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
My car suffered from them a bit. It was in the shop for a week or so while the dealer worked with MB Germany to run tests. They could only do two cold starts per day so this extended the time as they would do one test then have to wait till the car cooled to do the next test. In the end they didn't do much more than replace spark plugs and swap injectors around and recalibrate. This pretty much eliminated the CELs on my car. I think the general consensus was that the threshold for throwing the code was set too tight given tolerances but probably set that way for emissions compliance reasons.
The car otherwise ran fine when this was going on except for once or twice when I started the car to leave my office for lunch and it threw the code and went into limp mode. Turning the car off then on again allowed it to run fine again.
Eventually, MB released an emissions related recall to update the firmware for affected cars then later extended it to all 2018 cars. In California you needed to have the recall done in order to renew your registration.
Would I want to buy a car with a clean title, yes for sure. But if I could get a 2018 with a CEL related lemon title for a great deal I would go for it.

Strike fast, expand you budget or wait it out. Search often, search early and good luck.
Def mid MY19 or MY20 is what I'd recommend; I'm not a facelift fan.
