E63s questions

I wanted to see what you all think. I'm next in line for the chance to pickup a black e63 as the gentleman who ordered it backed out. However it is 150k so roughly 25k over sticker. Do you all think it's worth it? Do you think they will make more v8 E63s? There is a whole lot of uncertainty on my part, but I have wanted one of these for a while.

Thanks for the advice!

go fast grocery getter wagon
This question was asked and talked about a lot in another thread. You will get no definitive consensus because one has to justify for this kinds of crazy premium. If you are to keep it for a short time, you may take a huge hit when time to sell perhaps (assuming the market gets back to somewhat normal).

as you know, there is still no production confirmation on 2023 e63. If there isn’t one, then that would be it for the w213 generation and the rumour of w214 may not have another v8tt on the product lineup.

From my standpoint, the most I will ever pay for a wagon would be Msrp. 😉

The E63S is certainly not an ordinary vehicle and the likelihood of 2023 production is problematic at best given the continued chip shortages. What does your inner child tell you to do? As others have found out, the interior options in combination with the V8 cannot be duplicated in the E450-AT which is the only wagon in 2022 production. Spending 10% over MSRP is not significant if you plan to retain the vehicle as the last great ICE MB wagon. However, if you don't plan to retain it for more than a few months, then I would pass.

FWIW, the car is always a joy. I have owned 8 AMGs, including an S65 and this E63 is by far the most fun to drive. The mix of handling, power at all speeds, lack of turbo lag, comfort, technology, amenities and reliability makes me smile every time I look at it, much less drive it. The engine is a wonder. It's the first AMG I've owned that burns essentially zero oil. I have never added a quart, which still amazes me. The transmission is always in the right gear, "right" being what's appropriate when you tell it your mood via the program setting. I live on a mountain road, and often go home in S+ or even R just to take decreasing-radius and oddly banked turns at speeds that fairly recent Porsches have had trouble with. And try taking a 3,000 mile road trip in a 911. In the E63 you can drive 400 miles of any kind of roads and arrive relaxed and ready for a nice dinner. The badass sounds from the exhaust are such fun. I say do what it takes to own one. My wife was pissed that I spent $5 grand on the Burmester upgrade; now she loves it. It's worth a few nights on the couch.

If this is the end of an era, don't miss it.

That’s the good news, as long as you’re not in the doghouse!

It was all good until I was like "so was a no or a maybe?" Now I think I'm in the doghouse.

Look at it this way - any vehicle that is desirable will have ADM. With production messed up there's more demand than supply, thus the price to you goes up.

I agree with what was said above, the W213 E63s is the most fun and involving AMG I've had. Previous W212.5 E63, and W205 C63s coupe combined. The only other car is AMG's lineup that comes close is the GTC/R cars.
I would try to get one as these car are the last of their kind.

Thinking about swaping my w212 for a 213 towards the end of the year. Sounds It'll be a nice upgrade. I know what's going to happen if I go look/drive one lol.

Yes, W213 is a HUGE improvement. I thought my W212 was the best car in the world and thought I would keep it for a long time. Service folks bragging about the new w213 could not change my mind...

However, my dealer proved me wrong: after only the first few hundred miles with W213 loaner in Eorope, was totally sold on W213!

Yeah sounds like what I thought it would be. I've got to get out and drive one . Liking the sport seat option in the 18's & sport exhaust , finding a spec with both might be a needle in a haystack though lol . Searched but didn't pull a ton info on it , no major issues with the 18's vs the 19's that I can see ?

There was a recent thread with the differences between the two, please search this forum.

I would stay away from early 2018 MY production as they have some issues. The major one owners complained about is CEL issue, if I remember correctly.
Good luck searching for “dream spec”…..

The CEL issue was addressed in a recall, IIRC.

If you never had a E63s, even the W212, you are missing allot of the performance in α full size sedan. More than 10 years ago, I was α big BMW M guy, then drove the E63s and never looked back.

The first production year for the W213 E63s has had many many buybacks because of the Cell issues that was fixed with α software update towards the beginning of 2019.

As what people say, you don’t want to own α AMG or any other high end car manufacturers without warranty, even getting extended warranty that can be sold or refunded based on prorated usage.

The W213 E63s is most definitely must have.

Any AMG would beat this disaster:

Totally go drive one. Think of it as a W212 improved in every single way imaginable.

I cannot believe that butt-nugget is successful. He left Porsche USA fercrissakes... but look at him now. Should do some sit-ups. Now that he is just a sales *****, his reviews are worthless.
