Exclamation 19 E63s exhaust help!!

hi all! so im back havent been to the forum since i sold my s-class. anyways ill get to the point, i recently just purchased a 2019 E63s and unfortunately the old owner did not utilize the AMG performance exhaust package (U78) because of this im left with a dilemma. does the standard exhaust have a significant sound difference? is performance affected when in s+ or race mode? and lastly what can i do to get my existing non PE, to resemble an AMG PE. it frustrates me that the previous owner did not opt for the $1200 option. Thanks and any and all options would be much appreciated so please do share. i prefer something easy and low cost. preferably "quick" mod.

ive been told that i can just remove the baffles???

Let me answer your questions in order. Does the standard exhaust have a significant sound difference? Yes, I wound say so. Is Performance affected when in s+ or race mode? Nope, it is purely just sound gain, unless the package includes top speed increase but that isn't really performance gain imo. Retrofitting a PE will be expensive, imo PE is one of its kind but custom exhaust will be able to help you restore some sound. Do ask yourself since you are already "stuck" with a vehicle without PE, is the standard exhaust good enough for you or you actually want more, if you feel like it is good enough I don't see the reason why you should consider any custom exhausts. While you are frustrated about the previous owner not optioning the $1200 PE, I am frustrated that MB even made it an option and not standard in the first place on an E 63s AMG, even making it as an option and not standard doesn't feel right on a C 63s AMG, let alone an E 63s AMG imo.

It does suck that is not standard on these cars , but thats how they get your money by the *****.

I believe in the 2020 , PE is standard, I know it is on the wagon.

When I read your reply, initially I thought hmmm maybe they made PE standard because of the sound regulations in facelift and that they don't want their non PE vehicles to be inaudible as the sound of an AMG is a competitive advantage imo so they threw in the PE "as a courtesy" but I forgot the 2020 is not yet a facelift, it does have the OPF in Europe so maybe my thinking isn't completely incorrect but then except I think you are talking about North America.

anyways....back to the topic at hand. would changing the downpipes and straight piping the "H" section somewhat fix the job and get the non PE to sound like the PE.

or


would straight piping just the "H" section fix the job. I've heard but dont know and maybe this can be clarified that the 2 valves closest to the muffler in the non PE stay open.

Grab some catless downpipes or have the H-section cut out and get a guy to straight pipe that for you.

The 2018-2019 E63s ( sedan or wagon ), the PE is α standalone option and in 2020, the PE is standard in North America. The easiest and most cost saving would be to add catless downpipes and you will have the volume like in the PE or even more.

I have a 2018 E63 without PE exhaust option and was initially disappointed it did not have the option (bought it CPO in 2020). After 2 years really does not bother me anymore. Exhaust is S+ or Race mode are the only drive modes that come close to PE exhaust sound. But there are times when driving through my neighborhood when I don’t want my car snapping popping and growling. Or when commuting to work in morning don’t need the PE option.

My car is my daily drive so I prefer the toned down sound until I’m ready to open her up and let the big dogs eat. Then I put it in Race and plenty of roar coming out the back. So I guess it comes down to preference and driving style. I would not want any modification that turned PE exhaust permanently on and not have the option to tone down. In my State/town that would just be putting a bullseye on my car begging to get pulled over. Just my two cents for the other side it.

I have the PE on my 18 wagon, comfort mode is obviously quiet and civilized, while sport+ and race mode open everything up nicely especially when paired with one of those EVM dongles that keep the flaps 100% open at all times. However in your case, I second W205C43PFL's opinion on starting with downpipes first if emissions are not strict in wherever you are, instead of spending a significant amount for a full exhaust system right away.
