Purchasing a used 2018 E63s

Hi, im new here and i wanted advice on a purchase i’ll be making. I am thinking of pulling the trigger on a 2018 E63s. It has almost 50,00miles. This will be my first AMG or Mercedes car. I’ve done my due diligence and done extensive research on the car, and the dealer offers a 7day / 250mile return policy after purchase. I plan to take it to a mechanic during that time frame and check everything. I wanted to know some of the common issues i could encounter with this car and any advice for a new owner will be appreciated. Thanks

I have the same yr and mileage.

my past and current issues:
- air suspension fault (out of warranty). Cost $3500 Cdn to fix (valve block and compressor unit replaced)
- lots of electronic gremlins. Partly due to aged and faulty battery. Dealer covered the battery replacement costs. Software fault was also an issue too.
- rear suspension squeaky. Sway bar bushing was replaced at the end (warranty covered) after 3-4 trips to dealer.

mechanically , the car is fairly solid

I have 18 have had zero problems mechanically.
Only issue is drivers window is slow to come up
Then trips auto window function.
Have to lube window seal guides.
But my car has very low mileage.
You should try to get a 19 and up so you can add extra coverage.get one with much lower mileage.
Very costly car to repair.

Rear main crank seals are starting to leak after 40k miles. It's a good excuse for catless downpipes for me at least considering the transmission will need to be dropped.

Hey Fodders, I help lots of MBWorld members with their warranty search on their out of warranty AMG's, a Manufactures Extension by Freedom Warranty on this 2018 Mercedes-Benz E63S, 5 years / up to 100k miles (additional 25k miles available for only $400), $4,295, repairs accepted at all Mercedes-Benz dealers North America dealers, covered for $275 in labor an hour, only $100 deductible, and 0% financing is available. You can contact me at (855) 924-1333 or tgibson@highline-autos.com with any questions or if you'd like to see an example contract.

I think with a great warranty, you can enjoy the insane performance of those E63S, and not have to worry you're pushing to hard. In other words, GO FOR IT!

I'm not a fan of cutting them in case I need to return the car to stock for whatever reason.

@Cylinder Head is the rear main seal leak on the M157 or M17x? Can’t remember when the engine was changed.

Thanks, I learned something today. First report I have seen on this site of a systemic issue on the M177. Early builds had unexplained misfires, but that seems to have faded.

most if not all of this issue would have been resolved by now (4+ yrs later). If not resolved, cars would have likely been “lemoned” a few yrs back.

I wouldn't be so concerned about the model year as much as the high mileage.
