Thinking of Selling

Hey all,
I'm thinking of selling my 2018 E63S edition 1 wagon. It has <10k miles and is in great shape. Reason for the thought is that I don't drive it very often and I always have it on a trickle charger to keep the battery in good shape. The problem I have though, is that I don't know what it's worth as none of the usual places have descriptions for this particular vehicle (only three in the U.S.). Does anyone know where I could get a proper appraisal on it in Idaho? I'm located in Meridian if that helps. Or what are your thoughts on its value? If I sell, I'm going to purchase a new truck and smallish SUV for the wife. No more performance cars for us at this stage of our lives.

There is a 2018 first edition sedan on CarGurus listed for 148k. I know there’s a difference between wagons and sedans but for price comparison that may help. Good luck in your search!

Too many
your best bet is call three MB dealers and see what they offer and take the highest bid and do some negotiating
but what ever you do , you should act quickly as the market is shifting downward very quickly on a daily basis , and the word is spreading around and dealers are getting hesitant to buy cars
good luck

I would recommend to accept any reasonable offer on your wagon. Basically, the 2018 Edition 1 was really a 2017 with regard to electronic components. Other than the special paint and decals, what is the attraction vs a newer model year? Unlike the upcoming final edition which has unique numeric badging and interior, there isn't anything special about the Edition 1.

Hi all, thanks for your input as I really appreciate it. So, we have decided to keep the wagon as it only has 9542 miles and it is a really special machine. The electronics do include the track pack, all of the colors for the in cab light bar and the colors on the display as well. It was built 04/08 so maybe it got the 2019 stuff? Anyway, I have seen some crazy prices and some rather low prices depending on mileage but nothing for an edition 1 wagon. We have ordered a 2022 4runner pro with a 3" lift and a supercharger in lime splash color which should arrive in about six weeks and we will be selling our 2002 Tundra. This will serve us well in the winter months as well as camping, etc.

04/18 would have been normal production of the E63S wagon. Edition 1 had special paint, interior color scheme, decals, and a numbered badging inside. There was an Edition 1 option group in Europe during 2018 production, but not for NA.

Don't mean to be argumentative but are you thinking that this is not a true ED1? I know that there were only 213 ED1 sedans exported to the U.S. and, I believe, no wagons were ever exported in this configuration. However, the story goes that the manager at Laguna Niguel MB ordered an ED1 wagon from Mercedes Benz and they built it for him. His is a 2017 and so is the second one which he also acquired. The third one, mine, was built in 4/18. Why the last two I don't know but I purchased this one from MB of Westminster, CO. Anyway, the ED1 package on the sticker is P88 Edition 1. Oh, and it does have the Edition 1 embossed on the steering wheel, but it's not numbered. I couldn't find anything about numbering of these edition1 vehicles, sedan or wagon. If you have further info on the ED1 I'd appreciate you sharing it as I can't find too much myself.
Regards,
Richard

As I recall, yours also has the Night Magno paint which was only used on ED1 cars in the US and not an option for others - I know, I tried to get it on mine and settled for Selenite Grey Magno.

Glad I'm not the only one that didn't quite understand what point HBerman was trying to make, but sure sounds like he's saying the OP's car doesn't really exist (lol).

I wasn't saying it didn’t exist. My point was that it was not part of the first production build if it was made in 4/18. Nice that it is in Black Magno.

I agree with you 100%. That is what makes these three a head scratcher. The sedans came out earlier than even the first of these three wagons did. The store manager in Laguna Niguel must have a lot of sway to get this done. But why the other two? I do know that mine is the most loaded out of the three wagons so they are not quite the same. Not sure if you're interested but if you are here is the VIN: WDDZH8KB8JA451935.

My 2018 E63S sedan was produced in November, 2017. I never saw a selectable ordering option of P88, but I know that it was specifyable for EU builds. Obviously, you've got a unique vehicle. The Black Magno paint could be specified as a custom color for $3500 paint setup plus some significant $$$. I selected non-metallic black as my alternative.
Here's the data card for your wagon.

It would be sad to see it go. But I hope it will be going to a new home that would really enjoy it.

Thanks for the data card HBerman. Much appreciated! I have printed it and will keep with the original window sticker which the dealership was nice enough to laminate for me.

No worries! I've decided to keep it as I don't see anything to replace it with. This will be my last performance car though. It's just sad that there's no place out here (Idaho) to safely get a little "exuberant" with this machine. Miss my "little Autobahn" in CA (virtually no cars late at night and nothing on either side of the road).

Amazing car. Unicorn for sure. Just fyi these are not numbered(and you are on target with the 213 US number). Also, as a fellow edition 1 owner I believe the main point of each Ed1 vehicle was for each to be fully-loaded. So all should have max options except some do not have track hardware and updated hardware. I’ve also heard some missed the intelligent light system(which I’m still pretty unclear on as mine doesn’t have updated hardware but performs a light show at night).

Beautiful ride and glad you decided to keep it

If it does the light show, it probably does have the intelligent LED hardware, it's just lobotomized in the U.S. market. It simply needs to be coded to be active by one method or another, e.g. the Vlad module, dealer activation, or other CAN bus twiddling software.

The ED 1 cars are well equipped but not fully loaded. There are numerous other options that can be added to the cars - not to the ED 1 mind you because ED 1 was the option - but non ED 1 cars could be loaded with more goodies. Mainly the only things you couldn't get were the night magno paint, stripe, special stitching on seats and steering wheel.

Ultimately I chose to go with a more fully loaded car and pass on the ED 1 for that reason. Tough decision because I really loved the night magno paint color but settled for selenite grey magno - which I'm actually quite happy with in the end.
