AMG Engineers Meet & Greet
I attended the AMG engineer meet and greet event this morning at the Merc VPC in Long Beach. It was a small group of customers and main objective was for the German and American engineers to hear feedback from what we expect out of their push towards electrification.
There were an EQS, EQE, and EQE SUV (in disguise) on display along with a GT53.
My main goal was to hear about the future of the V8. All of the engineers were super passionate about their jobs and really love the AMG brand.
I was able to confirm some bad news from one of the German engineers …straight from the horses mouth …regarding the W214 E63. There won’t be one ..the E53 will will be the highest spec with the M256 paired with the same plug-in e drive hybrid set up from the C63 (prob around 650 HP). He mentioned reduction in CO2 is of the highest concern and even the engineers in Affalterbach too were surprised by this decision. The CLE is also getting this set up and not the C63 set up. So there you have it …the 213/205 are the last C/E with a V8.
The V8 will live as long as possible and he mentioned if there is still demand outside of the EU then they will consider continuing production.
We also talked about the one man one engine moving forward. They are trying to retain this tradition some how with EV’s. Apparently, Affalterbach will have some battery production, thus, some components may be hand built. They’re still trying to work this out.
Summary of future models we talked about:
S73 M177 + Plug-In Hybrid
SL73 M177 + Plug-In Hybrid
SL53 M139 + Plug-In Hybrid
E53 M256 + Plug-In Hybrid
CLE53 M256 + Plug-In Hybrid
GLC63 M139 + Plug-In Hybrid
The V8’s are now reserved for the top tier range…S, SL, G, etc. The SL55/63 are going to be the last non electrified AMG’s with the M177 ever.

Interesting the CLE gets the M256! Can't wait!
Surprised they didn't talk about the setup in the W223 S 63 though...

Appreciate the insight. That explains why there is a W213 E 63s final edition... it all makes sense now as it turns out AMG is saying goodbye to the V8 for the W214.

Interesting topic as earlier this month there was a thread on here that had the 2023 order guides for the E63 with the 4.0 V8. There seems to be a lot of confusion at MB over what they plan to do. It will obvious unfold in the near future and I'm watching with interest. Surely, the final edition will be a limited number of vehicles that will be difficult to obtain with a premium added to the sticker. I guess it's time to sit back and see how it all unfolds. Glad I got my 2021 with all the options I wanted. Hopefully, this will keep the value up.

I'm also glad that I purchased the Extended Factory Warranty from Mercedes when I bought my wagon. That said, I'm interested in the upcoming EQE SUV for 2024. I never thought that I would purchase a car that would increase in value over time.

The final edition has been stated as 999 vehicles WW. No idea whether there is a mix of body styles. Each car will have a specific numbered badge placed on the console. I understand that the exterior color will be Graphite Grey Magno and the interior of Titanium Grey with yellow stitching. No idea about other included options.

That's correct
The 2023 E63 is still the W213 with the V8....the W214 will probably be a 24 MY....AMG version will launch shortly after.

No order information yet though. There's a chance it may be delayed to 2024 I guess.

Anyone think this will also prop edition 1 values? Since they would be the “first” off the line of the last era of e63’s? Curious to hear everyone’s input. Wish the edition 1's had the numbered badge like the final edition 😕
