Too many
The F90 M5 is a great car
ride is sporty , I drove mine daily and I do 1200 miles a month to work, not a single day I felt ride is bad and I am in my late 50
seats on M5 are way better than E63

My M5 CS ride quality is better than my 2021 E63S wagon. More compliant and handles rough roads with both ease and grace relative to my wagon. Problem is I still like my wagon more!

The M5 CS rides much better than the M5 comp. It’s probably the best balance between comfort and performance out of all of the production car suspensions I’ve driven.

2021 AMG E63s Wagon
Never drove any M5 but still remember 540i Sport 6-stick hour long test drive in Nashville 1999. Even with 282hp that E39 was awesome.

Curious why? My pursuit of an E63 wagon continues, but only because I need to haul big dogs around. Otherwise I’d have an M5 CS (not having driven one).

Had two M5 CS. One grey. One green. Sublime driver's car. On different level vs E63. Perhaps the greatest BMW ever made. Amazing in an era of junk they're creating.
Hated the bucket seats and lack of creature comforts for a daily driver. Didn't like gold and red accents and lack of exterior color choices.

Bet I'm the only person in the world to get two and lose money on both. Sold one to a 'friend' who turned around and flipped it. Sold another to a dealer who I thought would help me in the future. Both MSRP so I lost tax/transport costs. I am expert at losing money on cars.
-Silky smooth transmission. Effortless, lightening fast gear changes. AMG is clunky.
-CS shrinks around you feeling much smaller than it's size and weight. E63 does the opposite.
-Visibility is fantastic. Again opposite of my E63 wagon.
-Tech much simpler and more intuitive. Joy to use versus MB's cluttered mess.
-BMW bucket seats put you in the very best possible driver's position. Looking at the road versus at a giant hood in the E63. Can never get comfortable in the AMG. My head is almost hitting the roof and I'm not tall. Thought it was a glitch on my first one but realized they're all like this when I got my second one.
First one I got was regular metallic BH grey. Thought I wanted green. The green is iconic and unique to the CS. After I got the green and sold my grey one, realized I made a mistake. I like to blend in. With the grey one I could've blacked out the gold trim and the car would look more normal. I was sick of the green after a couple weeks. I also find matte paint rather trendy and impractical. Also, the bucket seats became annoying for a daily driver. BMW makes some of the best seats in the business, and should give the option for non-buckets.
Also, the red interior accents on the CS are not my cup of tea. (I equally hate red and yellow deviated stitching.)
Still blown away by how excellent BMW managed to tune the CS. All M5 Comps should be sold with the exact tuning of the CS. I would 100% be a buyer. Brand was dead to me with hideous styling and 'M-everything mentality as of late.

If they made a one off E63S BS and managed not to make it too stiff and just rigged it with all the power upgrades and a bit quicker with the shifts, that would be the ultimate everything car imho.

The M5 is far superior to the E63s in ride quality, solid feeling build quality on the inside, and much much better tech. Also better refinement on daily use.
THe AMG is superior in sound and torque.
The new f90s seem to be much more reliable than the old V8s from BMW.
The AMG has a much better looking interior and exterior layout. Seems a whole lot more expensive looks wise, but feels much cheaper when you drive back to back. The M5 is straight boring interior wise to me, LC1 may look better because of all the added tech, not because they did anything more to it.
I ordered a 2021 M5 to replace my 2018, but my old MB service advisor got a 2021 E63s right around the time my M was delivered. One drive in both cars later, I have a 2021 E63s instead of my custom LCI M5.
My next car is probably going to be the M though, the M8. The interior is much better looks wise, than the 5er.
The Ms do drive much better than the AMGs, wish they had the sound and style of the AMGs though.

Update….I test drove the m5 CS! Not as hard a drive as I thought! A lot I was impressed with! Mercedes better ride, easier tech ,(I’m not a tech guy.) I’m considering moving over because my sales rep from Mercedes’ will build me whatever I want with a bmw as well. I prefer bmw as easier and cheaper version to buy aftermarket parts tunes etc. the test drive was eye opening both having their strengths! Active bolsters though 🫤

I put money down on a 2023 e63s and attempted to build….half of what I wanted for options wasn’t available. I’ve since found a 2023 bmw m5 competition up for grabs. My question is….is the tech and comfort of the m5 as good as an e63? They will not let me test drive the m5.

I have no idea when Idrive7 ( or whatever that is will be available.) I was just comparing the two as they stand. Some are bmw (fanboys, whatever the hell that is,) or Mercedes’ , (fanboys…whatever.) I’m not brand name brand name loyal. I want the most bang for my buck…..I’m not rich and want the best possible ride for never owning ANY NEW car in my life after 5 kids and 2 wives….feel me? Lol

@Chewbs What did you end up doing? I lost hope on my E63s order and have a M5 Comp on the way. The LCI M5 Comp ride alot better and pre face lift, I drove a 2020 M5 and could not stand the ride, and just like AMG, M listened to the customers and made it softer. What they ended up doing was using the M8 Competition suspension in M5. Kinda sad since this will be the first time I will not have a Benz .

I ended up not buying the m5, and not ordering the new e63s. I will say, I’m beyond agitated with my local Mercedes dealership. They offered me a final edition c63s which I currently have money down on and currently will take ownership the first week of March. However, now they’re seriously low balling me on my current 2019 e63s. Since this, I’ve brought my friend and wife to this dealership and they’ve went to the competing dealership in milwaukee. She bought a brand new 2023 gle53 (I wanted her to get the 63 🙄.) and my friend bought an x4 M bmw which I found a lot of fun to be a passenger in. The two of them bought over 150k in cars on the same day at the same time……I’m thinking I will be leaving my sales person and that particular dealership.

I love M5s over the years. Thank goodness it hasn't been destroyed by BMW's design team. The new M5 should be amazing. Wish I could pick the best from both E63 and M5 to make the most superiors car.

Sorry to hear about your dealership experience, unfortunately I am seeing this alot with loyal customers. This newer money customer does not negioate and takes what they say.

If you have the E63s from 2019 I would keep that over the C63s unless you want a coupe. I just sold my 2021 C63 coupe. I tried to make it work with one kid but with second on the way it was Sedan time.
