Air Balance Fragrance: Which One Is Your Favourite Scent???
Hi Members,
Just want to know what is your favourite Scent when using the Mercedes Air Balance and how long does the entire bottle last you and do you use low, medium, or high all the time?

I use on medium and it lasts 2-3 months. My favorite is the Fireside Mood. I only got air balance because of the ionization thinking I wouldn't use the fragrance. I got a couple bottles thrown into the deal and several months later I decided to try one. It really is awesome. There's a lot to it and how the fragrance is made. Literally a science to it actually. To me and my kids the Fireside Mood reminds us of our trips to Hawaii with a dose of iced tea/hot tea thrown in. Can't say enough good things about it. Initially, I thought it was kind of gimmicky until I tried it and read up on how it's made and how it affects your olfactory receptors. You can also get the refills cheaper on Amazon and see the reviews on the other scents. I think Fireside Mood is rated the highest also from what I remember.

I originally tried MOOD cotton as that was the cheapest on eBay and I wanted to try the system out. It was an ok scent, I wouldn’t buy it again, but then on this group I got a really good deal (25 shipped) on MOOD bamboo and I definitely like it better than cotton. My original cotton I had set at either high or medium for about a month and never saw the level go down yet. I am currently running bamboo on medium.

Going back I realized I called it the wrong name in my post above. It's "Freeside Mood" and NOT "Fireside Mood." To me Freeside doesn't make a lot of sense but whatever. It does smell great though and at the price these are the word "Free" should not be used anywhere in the name.

That is an excellent question. I have been looking however, they seem to be priced everywhere else like the stealership and if they are less expensive, by the time you pay for shipping and handling, you havent saved any money.

I refill my container with Tommy Bahama signature scent oil and now my car smells like a Tommy Bahama store. Actually smells pretty good. Before that I just used some hot dog water.

Can we put any refill in there? That wouldn't affect the ventilation as some products might be too oily perhaps depending on what is in the ingredients.

Been using this stuff for years and it does not harm anything and lasts as long as the stuff from MB. They have a few different flavors if you do not like this one.

Something that smell like new car/leather
I just purchased a 2019 and it has the Air Balance system too. Whatever is in it, I don't like so I turned it off and just have the ionization running. Is there a fragrance that smell like the leather/new car? Thanks?

Lol - it's too subjective. You don't like it and I love it. For me freeside mood reminds us of our trips to Hawaii with a dose of iced tea/hot tea thrown in. Fwiw - freeside mood is one of the highest rated ones as well. So there's that. Asking about color on a car is one thing but fragrance is just too subjective. Be nice if dealers had samples or a way to at least get a whiff before you buy like perfume/cologne at Department stores. Especially given the high price by MB.

Thanks. My original question was if there was something that smelled like leather/new car smell. BTW - I have been to Hawaii several times and to me there is nothing about "freeside mood" that makes me think about Hawaii. Perhaps what I should do is just leave it off and clean the leather again and hope that eventually that takes over from the Freeside Mood. :-)

Chemical Guys makes a leather cleaner that smells exactly like new leather. I used that in one of my canisters for a while but got tired of the smell. Now I run the Tommy Bahama scent I referenced above. I get tired of the different scents so I do like to change it up every once in a while.

Thanks this is helpful. Is there a place I can buy an empty Air Balance canister so I could try this out? I don't want to dump the Freeside Mood, even though I don't like it very much :-)

I just had an idea, I don't know if it is safe for the air balance system or not. Griots Garage has a spray called interior car scent that I have used and like. I used to just spray it under the seats. It is a clear liquid and designed to be sprayed. If I call them, I am sure they would say we don't know anything about this, use it at your own risk.

I use this exclusively. I can see how you got tired of it, but after extended use, your whole car will smell like it permanently and that's not a bad thing. On my old X5M with 70K miles, people would get in and ask why it smelled like a new car still. It's like the the upholstery absorbs the smell. It's quite nice.
