It was a specious offer for certain!
However, the MSRP of $1780,00 for an FE wagon which has $13,000 less equipment than my 2021 E63S wagon which listed at $142500 is just hard to swallow. Of course, if there was some out of this world feature, engine tuning to yield significant more hp, and things like that, it would be considered unique. The reality is a bunch of cosmetic things that don't add significant value to the package. I think that MBUSA is out of touch with the customers in this market segment. It's like they had a price target and then picked options without regard to added value.

OEMs are wising up
I think the MSRP is more reflective of the fact that OEMs want to make the money on the cars rather than letting their dealers make it via market adjustments. They know that the buyers are savvy and realize the value of the car is essentially no more than 140-150k, so they’ve built in the dealer markup to the MSRP so they can enjoy that fat profit per unit. Dealers will only have so much head room to mark it up beyond the MSRP because the smart buyers won’t pay it.
Don’t think that the OEMs haven’t noticed what’s been going in these past few years. They want that money.
