The horses are now in the barn, 2019 E63s
Outstanding!

Wish I had put down PPF and THEN ceramics on my front end.

Ceramics getting applied in a week. I’ve never had ceramic coating before, I’ve been scared if it swirls it’s too hard to remove. But over PPF - who cares!

to me, putting ceramics on top of the film does not make any sense. You are not doing anything on the paint and some of the ppf out there already is pre-coated on their film from the production. For example, STEK brand

Doesn't make any sense to put ceramics over PPF. Perhaps I'm missing some benefit of doing so?

I just use one of those Meguiar's ceramic spray products over my PPF. Cheap and easy.

Agree here's the thing. I have Xpel on some panels and now Llumar on others which is more hydrophobic. And then doors and roof and A-pillars and D? pillars are raw paint that has been getting non-ceramic sealing which doesn't last as long as I'd like. So the idea is the full car ceramic will make it all bead/look the same and protect the un-ppf'd stuff from bird ****.

We will see! Maybe it is a waste...

I will ask what is being used. I know it is not "heavy duty" long lasting, it's just easy to apply 1yr stuff, not expensive 5-10 year...

The roof makes up 80% in glass panels. Only a tiny section is left.

I have ceramic over PPF and am very happy. PPF adds a layer of protection against damage in critical areas, ceramic makes it all very easy to clean.

@I.T. Guy,

With your recent suspension "issues", would you still recommend the CETE module for anyone looking to lower their E63? Since I'm still posted here in Germany, I figured now would be the ideal time to pick one up (and potentially have it installed by CETE themselves).

Mike

Yes would recommend Cete. Without jinxing it I'm fairly certain I've "solved" the issue. It was my own user error. I was going to wait just a little longer before posting but here's the scoop:

Since setting the "return to stock speed" to 90kph instead of 50kph the _only_ time I have encountered the error again was while crossing 90kph while at the same time hitting a massive dip. I'm now confident all the error issues were due to the fact that I had the "return to stock speed" set at 50kph so while city driving above/below 50kph so frequently the car was transitioning to new parameters at the same time as hitting dips/turning and leaning aggressively/hitting bumps right when/soon after it was transitioning up/down in height. I was confusing the Mercedes by changing height while the car was dynamically moving. In essence I kept moving the goalposts of the range the MB computer would think is normal operating range while the suspension was moving up and down from the road outside the new range setting that was just implemented.

So yes it's a good system and since I've set it at 90kph to "return to stock eight" I've only had that one error crossing the 90kph threshold at the same time as hitting a big dip.

Now we will see how long it takes to wear the insides of the tires since I drive in the city all week lowered.

That's just one of the cool things about IT. Hauling a server out and remembering what a hot rod it was and it is now junk. 5 years goes by so fast.

Good point on the poison gas. Hadn’t considered that. Thank you.

Luckily both times I only drove for a couple blocks. It’s a 2 min drive from the warehouse to the lake house. If I have to do it again I’ll keep the windows down. I think that’ll suffice.

So close!
