In the immediate future, the V8 is dead. That might change if they can get the v8 to meet the Euro 7 emission standards.

^ The V8 is not dead…it continues in the S, SL, and just launched GT models. Euro 7 is not the issue. They’ve made a decision to no longer offer it in C- and E-classes, whether for US CAFE regs, Chinese tax structure, ‘green’ image, a combination, or other factors.

The E-class is just not worthy anymore for the premium V8 engine. Certainly a marketing decision based on volume and image.

I'll tell you, I got brand immersed three years ago ordering an E63 for European Delivery and waiting out the Rona impacts and delays but I'll tell you as a former Cadillac CTS-V owner and seeing their success in racing right now, if I was in the market for a car I'd be hard pressed to consider an AMG. Very sad actually but potentially great for those current AMG V8 owners.
