Cracked E43 20’s: replacement suggestion
Hit an expansion joint and cracked two wheels and 3 tires. I understand this is a pretty common occurrence.
Current Factory setup
Waiting on insurance for final number but what would you do:
1. replace with oem 20’s (are they just going to crack too?
2. Go down to OEM 19’s
3. whole new forged wheel setup
open to suggestions or particular things that have worked for you guys.

This is tough to answer for you because it's primarily a financial decision. If it's in your budget, forged wheels should certainly solve it.
I recently cracked a RF 20" OEM wheel and I got it replaced with OEM because it was covered by my wheel/tire warranty. I blame the cracked wheel on the run-flat tires since the sidewalls are so stiff, but this is only my opinion. I think if my car didn't have such hard tires it probably wouldn't have cracked.
Sorry to hear for you!

Also, if styling is a big part of your decision making, I think 20" wheels are the perfect diameter for the W213 looks-wise. I think 20" works the best for the fenders' wheel arch.

The irony here is that when I was looking,I wanted the 20” split spokes because they look great. I had no idea they were so brittle.

It also depends on how many potholes around your area, if there are construction etc. If you really like 20s could consider getting forged aftermarket ones if you only want OEM you could consider downsizing to 19s, if you have runflats, get rid of those first and see hopefully helps lessen the amount of times the oem 20s crack, the run-flats' stiff sidewall makes it even more prone to cracking. Keep in mind, tire pressure also could affect the chances of a wheel cracking when you hit a pothole.

Destroyed the sidewall on a pothole. Impressed though that I drove 15 miles at 65mph to the dealer (where I have wheel coverage) like it was nothing.
Def thinking about moving away from RFs and getting more meat on the tires. Maybe +10mm > 255/35 front, 285/30 rear. Thinking it should fit on the rim fine.
