It's common I'm running the same brake setup. You just gotta live with it and drive it hot and fast to make the squealing go away over time. I've never looked back after switching to Powerstop and theres another brand I recommend on RockAuto called Dynamic Friction Co which I did an S63 for PENNIES on the dollar and their ceramic compounds are excellent.

All I can say is don't change your brake pads prophylactically...it sounds painful.

i just swapped mine but now getting a brake pad wear sensor warning. i did not change the sensor.. guess ill take it back apart and change the sensors. wonder if i just unplug them would light stop alerting me?
i used what was suggested here Powerstop pads and FCP Brembo rotors. so far super happy with stopping power and seemingly less brake dust so far.

The brake sensor is a wear item. It's basically just a wire that once it's exposed starts wearing through and once the loop is open, you get the warning. Same happens if you unplug it. You can bypass the sensor by connecting a wire from one contact to the other, but chances are the sensor got accidentally disconnected while you were replacing the brakes. However if the sensor tripped with your old pads, then you need a new sensor.

If you select your car, the site will tell you if it fits. The answer is yes.

Its likely your MB service advisor told you they both need to be replaced. They told me the same thing at 19k miles, new pads, rotors, and tires! Funny enough the tires were replaced a few weeks prior at Costco and I put brand new MB brake pads on myself. When my advisor told me this we both went outside to look, seeing new tires and pads, he blamed the overly sensitive technicians. Last time I visited that MB location

Btw I'm at 30k miles now and the pads are wearing great on the "old" rotors

If price is a motivator, check rockauto.com, I've used the Geospec rotors and pads there in two other vehicles and am happy with them.

you plan to do them yourself or use a local shop? We’re both here in Boise area and I’d be curious to hear how it went if you did it on your own or if you take it to a shop who did good work for you. Thanks!

I won't attempt to do anything like that, do have a shop in mind I'm going to check out and will report back as soon as it happens which still might be a few weeks until the light comes on

nope, stop from 120mph to 60 all the time

they also stop G550's and S63's which is quite a bit of work.

I just installed the Porterfields on the front and rear with brembo rotors. FCP originally sent me TRW pads....... Garbage! I was supposed to get ferodo but due to some glitch I got the TRW. They dusted and squealed like crazy. Always wanted to try the Porterfields and boy am I glad I did. Good initial bite, super smooth and quiet while braking yet very powerful when you need them. Just another option.

How is the dust? I loved the way the OEM pads performed but hated the dust

The dust is way better than the TRW's or stock pads. This is after a week of driving and 250 miles.

You can see where I wiped the inner spoke with my finger. Not much dust at all.

Can you provide a link to where you got the Portfields? I didn’t see it on FC Euro. I love the idea of new pads that don’t shed so much brake dust.

Went to my shop of choice to get parts ordered from FCP and apparently I'm getting Brembo rotors & Ferodo pads, hope I'll be happy with them. Apparently they are a couple notches above stock performance and significantly less expensive.

I totally get people who don't want as much brake dust as the stock pads. It's totally reasonable to me.

I will "endure" brake dust all day long so long as I have the confidence in braking of that initial bite.

Here's the front set for 2021, just call them (FCP Euro) and ask what the rear matching set is. The equipment is insanely good, looks like a million $, and no squeaks. Also half the price of the bs OEM they put on. It does dust like OEM, but that means it's working as intended.

Nope, they are a direct replacement. These are actually technically OE rotors. They were used on the C63 Black Series and the AMG GT R etc. with standard brakes. These are awesome. Not just the looks of it, but they have much better internal cooling technology. They use Brembo's patented pillar ventilation instead of vanes and they are full-floating, so they can expand both laterally and vertically while maintaining optimal pad contact. The rears are less important. You can just use fixed rotors in the rear as AMG uses sliding calipers in the rear. I just use the FCP kit with the Zimmermann rotors.
