e63s exhuast valves - loss of power/boost
Investigating the valves;
1) with engine off - the drive side is wide open, passenger side is just cracked slightly
2) with the performance exhaust valve activated at idle, both are open slightly and can hear a difference from open to closed in the exhaust sound
My question I am looking for some guidance on is should both valves be fully open when engine is off? The passenger side valve seems to try to open 3 times then gives up when the car is shut off.
Second question - the tune seems to have lots of pops and crackles (which I am not a fan of) - if taken to the dealer for service (i need to order a spare key + oil change) and they perform a software update will that revert the tune back to stock? Other option is tune shops wanting to charge $400-$800 CAD to return the tune to stock or modify tune to eliminate the popping. Personal preference, but love the throaty acceleration sound, hate the deacceleration popping/back firing sound.
Thanks for any help.
The car drives fine but I am thinking of removing the mufflers. Has anyone done this and what would the correct steps be. I read that you need to relocate the actuators, is that as simple as just zip tieing them under the car and keeping them plugged in?
I am afraid to cut the mufflers off and move the actuators then get stuck in limp mode.
Any help would be appreciated.
