I have not reached out to Merced’s yet. My insurance company has the car now but it might be worth contacting an attorney.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Ok…so I found this new article. The repair could have been faulty. The car was also parked as the article mentioned.

Oh man that’s sucks. Glad you’re ok and nothing else damaged. Hopefully Benz takes care of you.

I fully hope so. We are out a lot of money and no car.

You all think I should reach directly out to Mercedes?

Reach out to your home owners and car insurance if different
Sometimes homeowners will help if car was in structure in covered.

Send message to NHTSA
Report a Vehicle Safety Problem, Equipment Issue | NHTSA

Then reach out to lawyer and see what he says before contacting MB.
Talk to your insurance about this to show them what you know about issue.

DO not show your cards to MB yet - as they will try their best to Weasel their way out of any compensation for your loss

Aloha All…quick update. State Farm is still investigating and have not heard back. Yes the first recall was performed but who knows if done correctly but does not matter since they issued the next recall because it was never the solution.

Attempted to reach out to Mercedes and they said we are not responsible contact your insurance. No apology or anything.

Thus reaching out and seeing if any members had a lead on a good Lawyer.

We paid down a lot on this car and yes insurance paid off the rest of the car but at end of the day. Mercedes gets paid in full for there car that caught fire. It makes no sense.

Uggg…time for serious social media posts or something.

S63 up in smoke

Hello, haven't posted in a really long time but thought I would share this tragedy that occurred yesterday. About a month ago, I bought a 2013 AMG S63. I like the W221 platform and also have a 2007 S550. The S63's pedigree was good, all maintenance done on time and records of other repairs well documented. I bought it knowing, at 110k miles, that the transmission was failing and that repair was factored into the sale price. I had it checked at my trusted repair shop and was able to drive it there and back home after diagnosis. It sat for about 3 weeks waiting for the appointment to be repaired. Yesterday, I started it and was going to drive it around my property to determine whether it could get to the repair shop under its own power or need to be trailered. The car went into D and R and felt like it engaged but would not go forward or backward. I tried this for a couple minutes and gave up.
I went back into the house and about 5 minutes later i heard an exposion in the back yard and looked out to see the front of my beloved S63 heavily engaged in fire. I grabbed my garden hose and was able to put out the fire in ablout 5 minutes.

As you can see from the pictures, it is a total loss. Based on what i have said, what are your thougjts as to what triggered the fire?
