My solution to cracked 20" AMG wheels

Hello all! A couple months ago I picked up a 2019 E53 and have been really enjoying it. Last week I had a factory tire blowout on the highway, was towed to my local tire shop where we found the wheel was cracked and I quickly learned that this was a very common problem with these wheels. The local tire shop and I did some research to find a solution that would allow me to keep the factory look while also fixing the vulnerability that is the current wheel and tire setup.

My local tire shop (Bruiser Automotive in Peterborough, Ontario) found replica wheels from a company out of Quebec, they are 19" vs 20" but available in the same staggered sizes. The 19" size meant we were able to put on tires with more sidewall (also cheaper) that have greatly improved the ride of the car.

In the end I went with the following part list, total cost out the door including alignment and shorter lugs was $2457, an absolute steal compared to the $1275 the dealer wanted for a single wheel. The dealer wheel was going to be 3 weeks coming from Germany vs next day for this solution. The original centre caps popped right in without issue maintaining the factory look but significantly better ride and far less fear of taking a wheel out on a random pothole. Highly recommend this setup to anyone who's in the same situation. I've attached photos of the new vs old wheels as well as the car with the new setup.

I don't normally think this, but quite honestly I think the 19 inch rim look better in your car than the 20 inch rims

I agree. Along with a better ride and lower cost FTW!

Hmmm, it does, it must be how the aspect ratio is that just makes it nicer.
