Either way I hear that they are getting better at doing this now. Enough matte cars have had work done to them at this point.

edit- saw that you referenced my car in that thread. I was hoping to forget that ****in nightmare. lol. It’s infinitely better after the whole side repaint and I think most people would never know. Car fax shows “minor” damage

Also read @zukmeister thread and sorry for your painful journey! Definitely a story to remember if buying a matte car!
I will say that Magno definitely ages differently. Esp on bumpers (plastic) versus steel / aluminum. Sort of what happens to normal paint - esp some stronger colors like yellow or reds. Even if never hit nor repainted, they age differently. Maybe the softeners used for flexible areas?
For magno it's the actual sheen shows some variability - not the color - but the sheen.
(Note that this does not apply to the car described above of course)
To summarize in my mind - and appreciate your guys' perspective:
1. As cars get older even normal paint can be hard to match.
2. Some people (like me) freaking hate black paint. Awesome when new (or just paint corrected by a pro) but 15 minutes later after the first dust has settled it looks like you never washed it. Someone (say helpful child or spouse) removes a bird poo and then you have the swirl from hell that grins at you every time you approach the car.
2. Having accident (even minor) likely brings down the value more than any paint job. Some people (like me) never buy a car that has any prior damage or work done - don't care "how well" it was done etc. I just move on and get another one.
3. We (enthusiasts on a forum like this) are not normal.... Normal people want a cool car that is fast, looks cool and provides status when they valet park (I never valet park either).
SO - all in - I think we agree to a lot here. Matte paint is awesome for daily use since it doesn't show dust, looks clean MUCH longer, and makes your car quite different. Esp understated cars like an E63.
BUT, if you get a scratch, forget buffing or small fix. Live with it or sell and move on.
If you get hit - either have it fixed "sort of right" and live with it. Or sell and move on. The diminished value you got from the accident is not going to make you happy. But that goes for any color paint.
And to OP - sorry again for threadjacking big time here. Your black car looks beautiful in those pictures. By the time the 18 holes were over you likely whipped out the detail spray and microfiber cloth in the trunk to clean it?

I understand why many like the Matte paint. For me, there's a satisfaction when freshly washed and shiny. I wouldn't get that with matte.
