OE Tuning Tunes my 2012 CLS63TT-Excellent Gains on the Performance Pack Car!!
I finally decided to tune my CLS63TT and went with Jeremy at OE Tuning. Jeremy/OE Tuning is a sponsor here at MBWorld and has been tuning my cars since 2004. I choose OE for a few reasons; he is local to me and has tuned many of my cars enhancing each based on new mods or just getting more power on revised tunes. I like the local part so I can see his work in person and I can do a before and after dyno right then and there. This minimizes condition changes and keeps the data integrity level maintained. Jeremy is also a "never satisfied tuner" so he is constantly trying to improve his own tunes. And lastly because Ive known him for 8 years plus, I trust him with cars which I spend a lot of money on.
Some of my cars that have received his touch:
2004 E55- several tunes as I modified pulleys then headers then exhaust
2005 CL65- several tunes as new maps were discovered
2007 M6- more than 5 tunes as new maps were discovered
2007 997TT- at least 5 tunes
2009 M3- 2 tunes- before mods and after headerback exhaust install
2010 E63- one tune-I never modded the car
So you can see there is a trust factor with his work and what he has done for me in the past and present.
Many of know the new 63TT engine is easily tunable and we have seen this proven over and over with many tuners here. The are many reputable tuners here, no doubt so this is a thread to congratulate all of them and OE showing me the light with this car.
Below is the dyno and the rpm sheets of our runs. This was done on a Dyno Dynamics machine and the car was never unstrapped. I think the time between runs was about 38 minutes. You will see that there other CLS63TT's with higher dyno numbers/gains. Remember that all of that is a measure of so many factors; dyno itself (some read higher, some lower), conditions such as temperature, dynos done on different days, and the list goes on. Lets make it clear, Im not discounting what others have done just explaining to those who may wondering where my numbers came from.
My car is a 2012 CLS63TT- stock with the Performance Package so the gains were expected to be less than a non PP car obviously. I also had 20 inch wheels on the car and I think that will affect the overall numbers slightly towards the negative. What was important to us was not so much the peak gains but the usable gains in the meat of the RPM curves. The sheets will show you the gains at certain rpm intervals. As you will see this tune is quite fruitful in the useful RPM ranges and also puts out nice peak numbers too (if thats important to you). I like to compare the gains at the same rpm ranges especially at 3800 RPM's where the gains were about 80 whp and 114 wtq on 91 octane Cali gas. Thats alot for a PP car!!
As many others have mentioned here after their tunes, the change is dynamic- not much unlike doing an ecu tune on a Porsche Turbo. The car is just that much more amazing. As great as the CLS63TT PP car is stock the tune transforms it. The car spins tires even moreso from a dig and the rolling acceleration is fantastic. Its almost like having performance package ontop of a performance package (its actually more based on the gains). I have had many turbo cars including 3 Porsches, the CL65, and the GTR; the gains from the tune on this car and subsequent driving experience is quite formidable. I know tunes are not for everyone but Im glad I tuned mine. OE tuning will be tuning my E63TT Wagon as well- no doubt.

Congrats Vic. I totally agree with everything you said. I am very happy with my gains. OE gave my car. I actually got my car retuned with the tune you have and should be getting the car on the dyno this week I wish I had the luxury of having the car dynoed the same day but living in new York isn't going to happen. I'm very happy with the new tune I can really feel the difference between the first tune they did. On a non pp car it's really amazing and pulls so hard thanks for sharing

Vic, have you ever had a hard time selling or trading in your tuned cars given the tuning history? I have tuned all my performance cars as well but other than the M3 they were all leased and I never got any pushback or discovery at turn in. The M3 would have been the first test on a dealer trade-in as a CPO but it was hit and totaled so the insurance company paid out based on an appraisal.
I am comfortable taking the warranty risk but my only concern is that a buyer (either the dealer or a private buyer) will not be. I know the answer maybe that there will be enough gearheads out there looking to buy a lightly used 63 5.5TT in a few years that will view mods as a plus but I could see the dealer viewing them as a negative if I went the trade-in route.

A downpipe will defenitly make a large difference but just by removing the cats and an intercooler will make a large difference, actually the difference is good, for your car it would be somewhere between 50-70whp depending on ur tune. Anything more you would need a down pipe. Those engines give more than u think.

i'm picking up new tires soon.. i hate the continentals. i hope the pilot super sports can grip more from the dig. i could only image with a tune it would be just that much harder, no?

EXcellent Excellent gains for a PP package. thats ~70RWHP. Amazing. Congratulations and excellent choice. OE are very solid when it comes to tuning. This Dyno doesnt lie. I'm pretty sure you are on par with every tune there is out there for this M157 engine if not better.

didn't you notice also the huge diffrence in A/F ratio ?
it is about 1 point lower with OE Tuning !! stock PP file was about 12.5

No I changed that I have a larger IC maybe 4 times larger or more, I will be retuning by end of next week, we are going to take her to the limit, I hope to see new numbers on the same dyno, Ali you are not enjoying your car you should get a tune you are one of the first to buy the CLS and you are missing out on the potentials of ur car! It's much more fun with a tune only than as is now.
