CLS55 - What do you clean the dash with?
I am wondering what would be the safest thing to clean the top of the dash with? I feels and looks like leather, so should I use a good leather cleaner/conditioner, or is it fancy vinyl and use a simple vinyl cleaner or just a damp cloth?

I use lexol after I lightly clean the dust off. I have had good results with lexol cleaner and conditioner. At times I use lexol wipes.

Thanks you guys for your advice. I usually just wiped it down in the past, but I was always worried about not replenishing the oils in it if it is truly made of leather.

Hard to tell, but I believe the dash cover is high quality vinyl, leather-look. (IF it's not, I'm hosed.....LOL). Could not find it specified in any of the CLS' manuals. so...I use Armor All, but use Lexol or other fine-leather cleaner and conditioner on all other obvious leather in the car, though sometimes a little hard to tell (back of seats, headrest, door side panels but not the armrest, b/c I think that's real leather). Comments? thanks.

Use Maguire's Gold Class Leather Cleaner. Keeps it clean and conditioned.

I've been detailing cars since I was thirteen...NOTHING works better than an amonia-free foaming glass cleaner. It does not dry the leather or act as an abrassive, so all you are left with is a clean leather surface, that looks like it did when it was new. It removes the "grime" that collects without hurting the leather.
If anyone has any questions about how to clean their Benz properly, feel free to ask me. As I said, did it at an MB dealer in the midwest from 14-20 yrs old. Do the same stuff on my baby, and she never looks newer than when I do it myself, my way.
Best, Chris.

Damp cloth for most of the time.
Zymol Treat if it is real leather.
Zymol Vinyl, if it is not leather, used sparingly will leave a like new (matte) finish, protect from UV, is not sticky to the touch, and has a very pleasant smell (kinda like when new).
You can use this on all the plastic parts. Works great on the plastic wheel well part under the fenders.
Just don't go overboard on the amount on the interior.

Any definitive answer on if the dash is leather or vinyl? I had a 40th anniversary 911 and the dash on that was leather and looked very similar. But touching this one on the CLS55 and it feels more slippery indicating that it may be more of a luxury vinyl?
For vinyl I like 303 Aerospace cleaner and protectant. For leather I bounce around between Griot's, chemical guys, and Lexol.
Thank you all!
