Subaru Outback H6
The 63 motor is developed totally by AMG from the start whereas the 55 motor is a souped up Benz motor.
I dare say they went N/A to reflect their heritage, i think AMG used to race a 300SEL with the 6.3 litre V8.

Pedestrian safety requirements, emissions requirements, and its just a more rounded motor all around.

I think cost played a factor as well. Heritage is the popular theory though.

I read something in Motor Trend when the 63's first came out that the 55 was more expensive to produce. I'm sure warranties & reliability may always play out better for a manufacturer in a NA engine as well.

The racing rules were changed to NA ... so everyone stopped building SC engines.

When Honda was winning the F1 with a Turbo car (about 6000 years ago) there were about 15 or 20 models of Turbo car on the road. If it wasnt for World Rally the WR-X from Subaru would have no reason to be on the roads.

Given that rallysport makes more of a contribution to road cars I dont see the logic either.

That and the fact that in some countries such as Australia, Turbo and SC have been banned for use by young drivers, effectively killing the demand by being illegal (until you reach a certain driving level).

This is a stupid question but, what is NA. I've been beating myself over the head and I can't figure it out. Brain cramp!
