WOW! NEW ECU FLASH
If any of you have the old ECU tune from the dealer (2007 63's) I recommened getting the Dealer to flash it. My car always started in second gear unless I put it in first myself. The car feels like a new car and the trans starts in first every time The shifts switch much later in sports mode and down shifts great. Also when on the freeway if you give it a little push on the gas it will shift down a gear and if you push a little harder it will go down two or three gears. DO THE NEW FLASH Like I said the car shifts like it has a modified TCU Tune no Idea way but it kicks butt over the crappy 2nd gear start

Never heard the final chapter concerning your ECU/battery problem. I take it that you resolved that issue.

I agree with this 110%.. My car was always starting in 2nd. Sometimes it seemed if the idel would fluxuate like it didnt know what gear to go into.. I took it in for this prob and some hesitation issue. My SA adivised me that it was a bad intake manifold gasket and they put a new one on and bolts and reflashed ecu and tcu software and it runs completly different even better Now from when I first purchased the car. I have better throttle response and shift points seem to be higher in the revs as well.. much better

Has anyone in LA gotten a dealer to do this? My car still starts in 2nd in S unless i floor it. Then the next time i come to a stop, it'll go to 1st.
The dealer and MBUSA both keep telling me this is normal.

If anyone can provide me a dealer and SA that knows the issue and can take care of it. Sick of arguing with my local dealer about it. PM or post would be appreciated.

Hi Andy,
It was free. I just bought this car and it was still under the factory warranty. I bought it from Tampa and brought it home to Charleston. So I wanted the car to start a history with this dealership. Everything they did was no cost..

hope this helps... this is what I had This is from alldata.com:
A/T - Hard 1-2 Shift/Hard Converter Lock-Up
Date: December 4, 2008
Order No.: S-B-27.00/112
Supersedes:
Group: 27
SUBJECT:
All Model Vehicles Equipped with 722.9 Transmission- 7G-Tronic (NAG2)
Hard 1-2 Shift and/or Hard Torque Converter Lockup Clutch Engagement
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of hard 1-2 shifts, the condition may be a hard KUB (torque converter lockup clutch) engagement during the start-off procedure.
To determine a clear diagnosis, investigate the complaint with DAS and observe the state of the KUB. If a jolt occurs when the KUB switches from "Open" to "Slipping", the cause may be in the control system of the KUB. Perform the following to resolve.
1. Update transmission software via DAS 10/08 or later, menu item "Initial startup" followed by SCN coding.
2. Adapt the KUB by coolant temperature and torque window via DAS menu item "KUB adaptation". (Use the following password until DAS DVD 11/08 is released: 48998)
NOTE: The following allowable labor operations should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair. This information has been generated on December 4, 2008. Please refer to Netstar -> Star TekInfo -> Star Time for the most current labor time allowance.
In Case of Warranty
Operation: Short test perform (54-1011)
Control unit - software (after short test), install (54-0991)
Control unit - code (after short test), perform (54-0992)
Adaptation, perform (07-1047)
Road test, perform (00-9151)

I do not own a Mercedes
I've tried to get this KUB adaptation done on a transmission that was just rebuilt, at two dealers. Both have lied and said they did it, but when I asked for the conformation page saying the adaptation was completed sucsessfully, the could not produce it, and then said they tried to do it but could not get it to work. ????????? Any suggestions. What is the mystery about this procedure.

Nice! I don't know why I didn't see this on the fourms before!
I've been holding back on doing a ecu reflash for a little while now, and I wanted to know. Does this dealership reflash give any gains? Does anyone know if a aftermarket ecu reflash fixes these gear problems? I never really noticed my car starting at 2nd haha my cluster is always on the radio when I drive it :\
