now u guys have an example of how to launch the cls and how not to! haha

You have an 11 second car , and it sounds great. That screeching is something tyou really do not wanna hear. Your car sounds great and it is definately a welcomed new member of TEAM AMG, CLS division,

The Kosei's will be great and you need to get some light weight fronts to roll with them. Kodei sells a 19" K3 that is onsale for 179/wheel and it is 19 lbs. WOOOHOOOO

Great job , your going to shatter your ET with the Kosei's

Team AMG...CLS division .

Why wouldn't you get the 18's instead of the 19's? The 18's weight in at 16.8 pounds . I wonder what the smallest rim they make for my E55 up front that will cleat my calipers?

i sure hope so! how much difference will lighter front wheels make?
i was planning to use my stock 19s. do u think it would be better to use my aftermarket 20s instead? the 20 inch front rims i have are actually 5lbs lighter per wheel compared to my stock 19s.

either way ill consider the lightweight fronts later. gotta get the rears first and see how i do with that. i hope i can at least get 1.7s. if that actually happens, could i potentially get in the 11.5s range based on getting 12.2 with a 2.1 60' time? im just curious as to what i can times i can achieve. ill be happy to be somewhere in the 11s though.

If 18" will clear the brakes then yeah .

Best set up is as light as possible :-)

11.70-11.8 would be your target , I would suspect the tires get you down to 1.8x immediately, it will take some seat time to work em down into the low 1.70 and high 1.6 range.

11.5x would be possible with a 1.6x, you could pick up 7/10th by knocking off 4/10th on your 60. Should be close to a 1:2 ratio on ET

cool thanks for the input juicee.

ill do my best once i receive the tires!
7/10ths off the ET with a 4/10th reduction on the 60' is nice!
if that is applied to my 12.2 with 2.1 60' then i may have a chance for mid 11s

cant wait to try!

tried again at the drag strip today with some drs.
it was pretty busy today and i was only able to get 3 runs in.
anyways i still need more practice with this drag setup.

i was able to pull off a 12.073@120.11mph with a 1.955 60' time.
based on my previous time of 12.240@118.26 with a 60' time of 2.122, shouldnt my ET have been lower?

anyways, i wish i could have had a couple more runs since 11s are right around the corner.
i need a new tune as well! this is frustrating but ill try again on the next drag day!

Weird your ET and 60ft time are on a 1-1 ratio. Exactly 1-1 so you trimmed .167 off the ET and off your 60ft time. I have never seen that . How do the two runs stack up conditions wise?

Least you improved a little, you really need a private or less crowded event to experiment with the tire set up . Great job on the improved ET and trap, from the trap speed im going to assume the temp was lower on your 120 mph pass?

august 28th (12.073@120.11mph) street tire run the weather was:

Max Temp: 26.7 °C
Min Temp: 11.5 °C
Mean Temp: 19.1 °C
Precip Accumulation: Trace

on august 7th (12.240@118.26mph) drag radial run it was:

Max Temp: 19.5 °C
Min Temp: 14.6 °C
Mean Temp: 17.1 °C
Precip Accumulation: 0 mm

i believe it was more humid on august 28th and it actually started to rain at the end of the night. from what i remember the humiditiy was well over 50% (maybe 57%). i cant remember the humidity on august 7th.

Not a tremendous difference looks like temp was likely not a factor.
So we must conclude the ET can go lower as your car showed improved trap(more hp) on this latest run.

Your ET should have improved a bit more but looks like you were not WOT the entire pass from your post in the W211 section.

Id say definately 11.80's with your best run likely with the mods you have and in this temp range 11.6, 119-121 traps.

My 1.479 allowed me nearly a second as most my passes were 12.9 with 2.0 60 ft times almost the 2-1 ratio you should see

.167

that 60 ft improvement on your run should have been good for .33

it was quite a bit hotter on the 28th compared to the 7th.
i remember needing to wear a light jacket on the 7th but it didnt really need one on the 28th depite the rain. either way it should be even cooler by the next drag day on sept. 11th.

on the 7th i was also able to hit 120mph traps but on those runs i had a slower ET and 60' time. i guess not going WOT enough on my best run caused me to get almost a 1:1 ratio instead of 2:1 ratio between the ET and the 60' time huh?

too bad i didnt hit that 11.8

cant wait for the next one!

went to the strip again last friday and i managed to run:

11.609@120.65 mph with a 1.735 60' time

i posted it on dragtimes and at the moment its the quickest CLS recorded on the site.
i need to figure out why my traps are not higher than they are and hopefully i can hit the low 11s.

Nuts! I saw your dragtime listing with the 11.6x, time to update. What are your mods on those passes Jikjak, IIRC your car sounded amazing in the youtube video and dyno.

haha i tried updating it yesterday on dragtimes but its still not there. ill try again if its not on there later today.
as far as mods its still the same setup as the 11.6x run listed on drag times. im thinking i had a bad batch of gas or something during those runs. im not too sure, but it was definitely running better last sunday!

thanks guys!

AWESOME MAN. You did not take long to rise to the top.

TEAM CLS AMG baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now you need to take down those pesky E55s. Rick hopefully can push you just a hair more.

The CLS 55 has been out for 4 years and you now hold title!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How long have you owned yours?

We shall see if it holds , I likely will never beat it, but Id love to rip off 1.47-1.52 consistantly , and obviously go sub 12 in my near stock 4500 lb car

hopefully rick can get up there with the E55 times, ill do my best and try to get there as well. i think if i can bust out a 1.6x i could possibly hit get in the 11.0x-11.1x range. gotta see what mods i can do next to get into the 10s without going on the bottle.

btw i uploaded my time slip on to dragtimes and now my 11.344@124.80 pass is gone! is that normal?

i took delivery of mine in summer of 2005 so i have had it for a while now.
did some mild mods in the beginning and just recently ive been modding a lot more.
