CLS power!
Good news folks.
The CLS now owns the record for best mercedes Benz 60 ft time in the 1/4 mile. WOOOOHOOOOOOOOO
Those V12's and E class cars got nothing on us.
So , celebrate , now we can say we are the best looking and best launching benz. HEHE

good stuff juicee!
congratulations!
i need more tips on launches though! i went to my local track the same day u guys were out in sac. i struggled a lot with my 60' times and was unable to break into the 11s.
this is the track i was at.

i posted this in the other thread:
i went to the strip today as well but did not fare so well. my launches sucked, i saw the traction control light on every run.
my best run was 12.240@118.26 with a 60' time of 2.122 and my best 60' time on my very first run was a 2.061 with 12.338@119.18. my best trap speed was 120.25mph but on the 2 runs where i hit 120 i also had the worst ET and 60' times. i dont get all this stuff. anyone have some analysis and advice they can give me?
all i know is that i need to get some DRs asap so i can pull out some runs in the 11s the next time i go out there. there are a couple more drag days this month.

The 55 as it spins the sc is providing max boost creating more power resulting in crap ET but good traps.
You are doing fine for a powerful car on street tires.
the 2.06 is not terrible, it is hard to get sub 2 on a hard tire.
Here are some easy fixes.
Turn off traction control.
try launching in 2nd
lower tire pressures to 22 psi
get a set of drag radials or cheater slicks
try and roll into throttle vs. mashing
sounds like you have a super fast car that should be a bit quicker.
Drag racing is all about the 60 ft time, if you are going to spend alot of time at the track you should get a set of drag radials or slicks
Your car sounds like it is producing alot of tq preventing the hook. If you lower the pressure it will widen your patch and maybe you hook up. Drag radials do not always solve this. Practice taking off smoothly but aggressively at lights , LOL
Nice to see a CLS running and I am here to help you!!

Great job Josh, I was there to witness this record breaking run in person. Maybe you need to get angry more often before doing the burnout..... I think it was you who got the guy all pissed off at us J/K. Once again great job josh and hopefully one day I could get my 60's dialed in like yourself..... The best I could manage was a measly 1.659 when compared to the god of launching!!!! I did however manage about 5 1.6xx runs through out the day.
This is all that matters , consitancy is far more important than attaining the once in a lifetime 60 ft. I would be thrilled to do 1.6X everytime, just thrilled.
Terence, that's pretty confusing. Maybe the god of the 60' times could comment on this....Josh, where are you??????

We are measuring a distance and the amount of time it takes to cover thgat distance.
If you sin once time is going by and you are not covering distance. You are however increasing your rpm, raising boost and sending more tq and hp to the wheels. The reult usually is once you hook the car attains a decent trap and a terrible ET.
Keep track of all your runs and rank them in ET order. You will soon find your best quickest times always coincide with your best 60 ft times. They may or may not contain your best trap speeds. In a drag race all that matters is your ET. You could trap 120 mph and lose to a car trapping 110

thanks for the advice guys. i really need to practice more though!
on the runs that i did, i had the tire pressures lowered to 25psi, transmission in S mode, suspension raised and set at comfort, and i also rolled on the throttle as best i could. i probably didnt roll on the throttle slow enough though. ill try those other tips u gave me the next drag day.
the 2.06 i was only able to do once, my first run of the day and im guessing it was a fluke lol. the rest of them ranged from over 2.1s to a bit over 2.3s
oh and alan im definitely taking the rims and tires! i think i said that the night we spoke
once i receive them im going back and i hope to run in the 11s! i wonder what kind of times i can achieve with a 1.6 to 1.7 60' time

I was there for that run and witnessed it with my own eyes..... Juicee's CLS jumped almost 2 car lengths on that E63 ..... it almost seemed like Juicee was running Quad turbos or at least 200 shot of NOS or something
Juicee, congrats on the new record man
By the way, how the h*ll did we make it home that night? I remember we both drove while dreaming did you know you sleep talk? You were devising a plan for your next runs

November sounds good. Let us know a date so we can start planning. I'm trying to get a date set for my shootout in December.

Incredible! Congrats! What did you change to drop 4tenths off your 60 ft?

The key here was having the slicks at 25 psi, 5-8 second burnout , get to the lights and go. There was a small amount of time from the burnout to launch. I believe for the very first time ever in my car the slicks were heated properly and the tq converter was fooled as the car did not bog as it usually does.
A good 60 ft time can be dramatic as you see in the video .
The E63 left near 3/10th ahead of me yet by 330 feet I was nearly 9/10ths ahead.

Don't worry Terrence because I'm packing up your new Kosei's today and I'll have shipping info for you tonight. With these tires you're guaranteed to get into the 1.4xx's just like Master Josh..... Seriously, these tires should help a ton over what you got. I almost feel sad that I'm selling my Kosei's.

I'm ready to part with them...the extra cash will go towards my LT install and tune . My best time to date with these DR's is a 1.689 and 1.698, but my launch technique has changed a bit since then. 1.7's will be a given and1.6's Just make sure to get a good burnout and stage as quickly as you can, especially in that cooler weather up North.
