CLS55 Flush wheel fitment advice...
I'm looking to get a set of 20" concave wheels for my 55, (20x9 and 20x10.5) but I want to make sure I get the right tire size and offset. Not too familiar with offsets so I wanted to check w/ you guys (& girls) who are knowledgeable in this area..I'm currently running a stock suspension setup and do not plan on lowering the car unless theres just too big of a gap b/t the wheel well & tire. And if so, it would only be dropped slighty. No slamming. Anyways, I was thinking of going with a 255/30/20 and 305/25/20 tire. My main concern is the offset. I was told the wheels had an offset of +24 front & +28 rear. Great/Good/Bad? Will I have to do any mods? I want a flush fitment look. If these numbers are no good, what should I strive to get then? Help pleeaase. And if anyone is running 20" on a stock supension via 55/63, please post a pic so I can get an idea of what it looks like...Thanks in advance

I am running +25 in the front on a 20x9, with a 10mm spacer and extended lugs and it is flush. My tire size is 255/30/20 In the rear I am using +27 on 20x10.5 with no spacer. Tire size is 305/25/20. I do not have any rubbing issues, even with a 2.0" drop in the rear. Here is an example of a 55 AMG with 20s and no lowering. http://www.flickr.com/photos/rayco2n...n/photostream/ With such a lower profile tire, you are definitely going to want at least a moderate drop to have your car looking good. |
Thank you very much for that info + pics...To my surprise, the 20's dont look too bad on a stock suspenion. I actually found out that the overall height of the 20's with the given tire size are the same as the stock 19s. The tires on your car in the stock suspenion pics are the 255/30 and 305/25 correct? And what lowering method did you use?

Those offsets are good.

You can go with a 20x9 et24 front and 20x10.5 et25 and you can run a 255-30-20 and 305-25-20. No fender rolling and NO RUBBING. Hub centric / Big brake friendly. Here 3 shots for you.

The 63 was lowered with adjustable links. The customer didn't want it that low because of the front lip and the snow in Canada.

Exactly how I feel; Ohio weather plus front lip. Thanks again

this is my car: http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/..._1001-edit.jpg the front is -1.8" and the rear is -1.6" in the picture. Just note that the 63 AMG suspension sits approx. 0.5" lower from the factory than does my 550 suspension, based on what I've read. I am using a Programa lowering module which is fully adjustable between 0 and -2.0" from stock height. |
