Hours from signing for a CLS63AMG
Hi, I'm a German living in Hong Kong and going to sign for a 12/2006 CLS63AMG next week!
Any advice on what to especially look for when test ride the car on Monday is welcome.
Further I do sure also appreciate any good feedback on following upgrades:
- Custom grille single bar with Mercedes star
- Cat back or axel back custom exhaust...sporty sound
- Lowering module
- Upgrade facelift black series steering wheel
...
Negative here in HK is the purchase price of cars due to high tax but on the other hand where do you get a 2006 car with 24000km all service records

beware 7g tronic
Seriously, having owned a CLS Shooting brake for 3 months and having a total transmission failure and now the lack of service from mercedes i would advise anyone looking to buy a mercedes with 7g... Don't do it... the transmissions are an unreliable piece of crap.

the 7g trans ALL have the same weakness in the electro hydraulic unit right throughout the range. It is something MB is aware of and they have had many TCU upgrades to try and counter the problem as well as a special repair part that makes the warranty repair cheaper for them, that repair lasted 7000ks before failing again. So in 15000ks from new I had 2 occasions that the trans needed repairs after going into limp home mode. We came to an agreement with them and now drive an S-class hybrid. If you're out of factory warranty when your TCU fails it seems like the best option is to send your TCU to Softronic for their repair which they claim eliminates the problem which seems to be heat related causing warpage of the electronics plate.

You are going to love that car!
I'm not sure what time it is in HK, but if you are still thinking about buying the CLS, pay close attention to the suspension sounds. The airmatic sometimes has problems. If you can, look under the car for signs that it has scraped curbings or has other damage. Finally, smell the oil! If it smells burnt, or old...the owner didn't take care of the car.
Your mods sound good. Do the grille first !
Viel Glück!

CLS350 AMG
Hi
Not sure where to place this post. Just buying a 2005 CLS 350 AMG (AMG so I am told but no badging).
I am trying to find an appropriate owners manual. My BMW broke down and I was given this car to loan whilst repair was done to BMW 130i and I fell in love with it. The wife does not like large cars, but as it was only a loaner she accepted it into the household for a few days and when I said I prefered it and could do a deal, she OK´d it :-) 245,000 kilometres (I live in Almeria, Spain) and 1 owner from new. Needs work like new discs and pads and full oil and filters to start, but would like it to look and run well.
Anyone got a manual for sale please?

My transmission is gold. Only issue was a few stutters after a relearn from a full service. Now smooth as ever. @jessa211 - Given they made 10's of thousands of these transmissions, inevitably someone in the factory will have had an off day and borked the build, but everyone I know with this tranny loves them. Sorry to say, they are not ****, just your one
