That has not stopped some of the blingers I see around. But then they don't possess your taste or sophistication. I meant that.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have taste or sophistication. My income just doesn't quite match my tastes unfortunately. I'd be living large if I liked Casio's and Honda Civics.

Watches are like any piece of clothing, they should fit. It all depends on the size of the wrist. 50mm is just huge, and looks stupid on most people unless they are the Hulk.

The case of the watch should be a size that allows between 2-7mm of "wrist" beyond the upper and lower part of the case (using a 2D model, not accounting for depth).

I'm a big guy, Ill post a pic later of what a 44MM looks on me. I personally hate the bling look and was worried about how a 44 would look until I wore one and saw it looked normal. I think the max that I would ever go is a 52 or a 50. I know they make 56s which just look ghetto and ignorant.

I am a huge watch fanatic (as much as I can afford).

Currently:
- Girard Perregaux - Pour Ferrari Chrono (matte stainless bracelet or CF style strap, matte stainless with CF face, 8020 movement)
- Girard Perregaux - Pour Ferrari Chrono (Black Leather strap with red stitching, polished stainless case with Black face, 8020 movement)
- Girard Perregaux - Pour Ferrari F1 047 (Black Rubber strap, Alum case with CF face) - made from alum of Ferrari F1 engine
- Chopard - Mille Miglia Chrono, Jacky Ickx Edition 2 (Tan Leather strap, brushed skeleton case, white face)
- Chopard - Mille Miglia Chonro, Racing Colors Silver (Black Leather strap, brushed skeleton case, silver face)
- Omega - Seamaster Pro Chrono (Ti bracelet and case, blue face) - daily

A few more, but those are the ones in the winder. I will try to take pics.

thanks

Thanks, I really love the Chopard. I am thinking of selling 2 of the GP's as they are a bit small for my current taste.

thanks

Yes. Although some old Longines from the early 70's in mint condition are adequate collector's choices.

What other brands are you considering?

These are 2 of the best watches I've ever owned. Although I may sell the PP when the economy gets a little better, and upgrade to a PP5159

I really don't think you can go wrong with an Omega.

Can't go wrong with a basic Omega or Rolex for starters...then move up to an IWC/Patek in the future

Don't know yet. Reason I like the Longines brand was from seeing them be the official timer of the Olympics.

There are a lot of great time pieces out there in the 2nd hand market right now that will never depreciate much if any, and should be safe to good investments. You can spend $1500-5000 for a nice (but not amazing) watch. That is a better investment then the stock market in many ways.

Thanks
Brad
