Front driverside air spring strut driving me nuts!!

Someone please help me out with this issue. I drive a 2003 e320. It has less than 110,000 miles and a couple weeks ago a warning light came on, STOP CAR TOO LOW. Then the front driverside started to lower. Now sometimes it lifts and levels just fine no problem. Other times it wont lift an inch. It is only the front driverside. Other 3 are fine. IF this is just a bad strut or a leak in the airbag, would the car lift and level sometimes and not others? When its leaking air its loud, no mistaking it. Sounds like someone letting air out of the tire. But other times no air leak sound and car raises and levels fine. I also want to mention that when it wont rise and level i pop the hood and jiggle some of the fuse box and wires. Sometimes ill pull the relay out and put it back in. Most of the time, not always the car will raise and level. So when it is doing fine and levels like its suppose to. The car drives fine as long as the road isnt bumpy but if it does or if i turn right too fast putting weight on the left strut, its going down. So my question is how can i find out myself for sure what the problem is? And if it is a bad strut can i just replace that one or do i have to replace both in front? Thanks.

Most likely just a leaky strut, quite common at this age. If you hear it leaking, replace it. I would suggest doing both fronts at least, the rears will probably leak soon too.

If you keep letting it pump up the leak, you will burn up the compressor.

Hi Chad

Like Joe said you probably have a leaking shock and it is advisable to change both fronts as they do tend to start leaking in sequence.
If you are based in KZN then I would suggest KZN Air Shocks as they are Air Suspension Specialists.
Maybe give them a call. 0822944419.
I took my car to them and I am a happy customer, hence the referral.
The longer you leave it the more damage you will cause to your compressor pump.
Good luck
