I am shopping for 17-inch wheels for my 2004 CLK320. I noticed that AMG wheels are considerably more expensive than the regular Mercedes wheels.
The MB parts person told me that AMG are more expensive because of the design and the name. Quality wise they are the same.
What do you think?

He is right.
You pay mostly for the name, as AMG does not & never has, manufactured their own wheels.
Is Rolex really a better watch than a Seiko?

Well, I am no expert and it's extremely difficult to check the quality of the wheels especially they are all nice and shiny in the showroom.
I guess we have to buy based on trust on certain brand names. Mercedes wheels, with the name Mercedes in the back, may not be excellent but at least they should be in good quality.

the finish is typically better on the AMG's and other high end wheels
