Noticed a strange "whooing" sound that comes and goes above 65 mph coming from the rear of my car. So I checked the rear Pilot Sport's that came on the car and the center section of the rears were down to the wear bars, all of the outer edges had plenty of tread and the fronts are very good.
My question is can the worn rears be causing the noise and if so why does it come and go every 30 seconds or so even at a constant speed and on the same section of road?
Thanks

the center wearing out first indicates over inflation or possibly alignment issues (toe out) ... and the noise could be caused by the irregular wear
