Will Bilstein Sport shocks work with OEM springs?

Will Bilstein Sport shocks work with OEM springs?

This on a W210. Helpful salesman told me the shorter Sport shock might "top out" and get damaged. Does that mean if I ride over a bump at speed, that the tire will drop to the bottom as the wheel returns to level pavement ahead of the body?
If so, how likely is this? I don't drive like the Blues Brothers.

Your saleman was correct. If the shorter piston shock is used with a full length spring, you can top out the shock. It's very possible, especially with soft stock springs. I'd recommend getting the HD version of the shock, or KONI's. They're both full length, and you won't experience any topping problems.

The HD valving is identical to the Sport, so there's no difference in ride.

If that the case, what happen if you uses HD shock with lowered spring(ie H&R)? Will that kill the HD shock too?
