AMG 18" rear tires
The CLK55 rears are fitted with 255/35R18 (so am I), but today's C55 and SLK55 rears are fitted with 245/35R18.
Are there any significant reasons for the AMG engineers to select the smaller tire size now?
My tires are due for a change soon, should I give the smaller tire a try? What do you think?
PS: The front for CLK55, C55, SLK55 remained the same at 225/40R18 however.

Good question ! I'm also curious why the S-Class AMG was "downsized" from a 275/40R18 to a 265/40R18. Tire Rack suggested the 275's on my 2004 S500, but I noticed that MB apparently changed sized in 2003. By the way, the 275's are just fine, without any noticable problem.

depends on the weather
it's very simple .....
the 265 is slightly shorter which in turns changes the gear ratio thus providing better acceleration and quicker steering response
AMG is all about performance
