Tire Suggestions Pls: '04 E320 w/Appear.Pkg

I'm nearing 20k mi on my car, and my front tires are worn down to the wear bars (I rotated too late... @15k mi) and giving off a horrible howl at hwy speeds.

My OE tires were the Michelin Pilot Primacys (245/45WR17 - Grand Touring Summer) that came with the Appearance Pkg (called Sport Pkg in '03?).

Checked Tire Rack, and Primacys are a bit more expensive than other tires of the same size. So instead of getting just a pair replaced, I figured I could maybe get a full set of something else.

Looking for suggestions pls... spirited driving, no snow driving (no A/S), good treadlife is a plus

Thanks in advance.

Would "Ultra High Performance All Season" (ie. P-Zero Nero M&S) perform just as well or better than "Grand Touring Summer" (ie. Michelin Pilot Primacy) tires?

I use Pirelli Pzero Nero M&S for the summer with dedicated winter tires in the winter. After about 3,000 KM, I foud these tires great. They are quiet, comfortable and with decent road handling characteristics.

hmm..

Thx for the suggestion Mis3.

I just checked Tire Rack reviews, and I could only find 1 review for the P-Zero Nero M&S on a W211 (a E500)...

that reviewer states....
"These tires are a handling nightmare! The car pitches and bobs like an old Buick! I thought the stock tires, Continentals CH 95s were bad, the Pirellis are far worse. They were very highly rated in Tire Rack surveys. Whats with those surveys?"

I assuming the above was for 16s also.

Any W211 owners w/a better/differenet experience w/those tires? I just want to positive the tires will work out well on the car before purchasing.. Thx in advance

I had P Zero Nero M+S currently on my C320 sport (17X7.5 all around). They were great in the beginning. Handling was better than the stock Michelins. It even works exceptionally well in snow (only got stuck a handful of times in the past 2 winter seasons here in Wisconsin). However, after a little over 10000 miles on these tires, I found them beginning to lose thier umph. The ride right now is a little rougher and a little noisier. The handling seems to have faded away quite a bit too. I think this is quite common for P Zero series. They can only last about 10,000 miles and then it's all down hill.
