slightly wider tires on a 4matic?
Luke,
I just purchased a pair of 245/40/17's for a member. My car has 235/45/17's on it now, and if I put these tires on it will have the 235's on the front and the 245's on the back. I've read that you can't use a staggered tire setup on the 4matic as it will harm the suspension. Is a tire difference this small going to be a problem?

there may be a chance of problems. The computer in the 4-matic MB cars is going to assume that all 4 corners are exactly the same. You may get some drifting issues or other computer errors pop up... or maybe hopefully nothing will happen. If you want to try running the 245's, I'd run them on all 4 corners.
