what is the difference between 225/45 and 235/45? Are they close enough to mount on the same size 17x8" wheel? (not mixed, i mean a full swap of the sets)

I can't believe you ask that questions: 235-225=10

BTW
I run 225s on a 8" wide rim.

y would u want to go narrower?
people usually go wider.

it will not help performance, ride comfort, traction; it will actually detract from those. and the tire might look "stretched".

stick w/ 235 or go to 245/40

u drive a large v8 sedan, not a civic

That is why I asked what the difference means. Now that you obliquely answered the question that 225 is narrower then 235, I know not to consider a 225.
