When you ask 'is that normal' are you trying to get more mileage out of your tire?
Be more specific on what kind of tires you have.
Do you have the Pilot Sport?
Do you have the Pilot Sport A/S?
Do you have the Pilot Sport 2?
As you can see, there are many Pilot Sports!
I would suggest that you look into getting the Pilot Sport 2's, Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, or if you're on a budget the Kumho ECSTA ASX.
You can get all those tires from our sponsor The Tirerack from this link:

If you purchase through that link, a portion of your purchase goes to MBworld to help support and pay for the servers!

20k mi. is a lot for performance tires on a heavy powerful rwd car.
the wear depends on the rubber, soft rubber= more performance and more wear. harder rubber=less performance and less wear. the low profile doesnt really have much to do w/ wear but most low pro tires r geared towards performance and sacrifice some wear and ride comfort.
i would not buy lower budget tires for a mercedes, most of them r noisy and arent comfortable. get pirelli, michelin, yokohama, bridgestone. they have plenty of different tires for different purposes.
call tire rack and they will give u specific examples
hope that helps
u dont sound dumb.... im sure u know (specialize) in things that others have no clue about.... i just happen 2 know a lot about cars.
