Question about upgrading wheels

I have a 01 S500 with stock 16" wheels. I would like to upgrade to 18s. Would that be a harsh ride? what is the most common staggered setup for my car? tire size? what offset should the wheels have? TIA

18 inch is a great aftermarket setup for your vehicle. I have an 01 S430 with 20's and the ride is only slightly harsh.

Proper wheel sizings would be 18x8.0 or 18x8.5 front and 18x9.0 or 18x9.5 rear depending upon the manufacturer of the wheels you purchase. As for tires, the proper setup would be 245/45/18 front and either 265/40/18 or 275/40/18 rear. Both rear tires are offered for the S Class from '00 to present and will work great!

Good luck to you!!!!

Thanks for the reply. Would you happen to know the offset that will work?

Depending on the wheel your best offset range would be between a 35-40mm in the front and rear.

I currently run a 20x8.5 front wheel with a 38 offset and a 20x10.0 rear wheel with a 40mm offset. Also, my car is lowered quite a bit.
