shock absorber dead? pls hlp

shock absorber dead? pls hlp
The rear tire on psng side of my 98 C43 AMG bounces while driving at speeds over 30. When I mean bounces I mean it bounces repeatedly fast up and down. I even think the tire loses contact, b/c the control of the car is not all there. Feels like the car sways. I want to know when a tire bounces repeatedly up and down does it mean shock is dead? Would it need replacing or rebuilding?

Sure sounds like the shock is blown.
If you want to test it, undo the bottom & compress it quickly.
NO resistance will verify a defective unit.
May as well replace both rear shocks.
