Spare Tire Question
With people doing +1, +2 and even +3 upgrades, what happens to the spare tire? At 19 or 20", the OEM spare is practically useless, isn't it? What's the right compromise? for a 19 or 20" rim/tire package? I think one can use same spare going from a 17 to a 18. But not from 17 to 19 or 20.

Assuming you don't change the rolling diameter (29 inches IIRC), the wheel diameter will not make a difference. It may be narrower and the vehicle not handle as well, but as long as the rolling diameter is close, you won't notice any difference in wheel diameter.

Going from OEM 275/55/17 of 17x8.5 to 285/45/19 on 19x9.5 rims
Overall Diameter: 28.9 vs 29.09 (inches; 0.66% difference)
Circumference: 90.79 vs 91.38 (inches)
Revs per Mile: 719.7 vs 715
The 19inchers are running about 0.66% slower than the OEM 17 inchers. The question is, will this casue the ESP to go bunkers? It seems like such a small speed difference, but what's the threshold for ESP. Also, will just turning the ESP off using the dash switch (which doesn't completely disable ESP) do the trick. How about using the towing switch? Maybe that'll do it - I have to go read on that.
