uneven thread wear on E55 rear tires! help
left and right tires are worn to the point where there is no more thread on the inner side of them, is this an alignment problem? is there such a thing as rear alignment? should this be covered under warranty? (not the wear but the correction of the problem).
on the outter side of the rear tires there seems to be about half life on the thread. i'll try to post pics tomorrow.
thanks for the comments.
Think it's time for you to call Tirerack and get you some SO-3's baby!! Yeah!!!!
I really think I'm going to go with kumhos, but I haven't decided that yet, first i want to fix the problem.MB gave me an appointment to bring my car for service for sep/26 ! ! !
So I have time to learn about the problem.
I just checked my tires after 13k miles and front tires look good and evenly worn, but my rear tires s u c k !

As for your inner side of your rear tired getting worned, is your car lowered? If you are then its the camber. If your not, it is still probably your camber that is off. According to all tire shops you can allign the rears, thus offering 4 wheel alligning services. But my friend think other wise, saying you can't adjust the rears, I kind of beleive them.
Our warrentee on our cars is awesome. The dealer said it was covered and aligned my car free. Call you service representative and ask him if it is covered.
PS Stop trying to break you best quartermile time at every stop light :p I bet that's why your rear tires are worn.

I don't mind changing tires every 18k miles because I'm burning them at the lights
, but I do mind uneven wearness due to alignment defect.BTW the car is not lowered.
Are your front tires different size from stock?
however, camber adjustments, i believe can be performed on all 4 wheels. but yeah, your problem seems to be cause by negative(?) camber.
the dealer should be able to correct this for you if you haven't altered the car's suspension.
