Staggared wheels and tires

Maybe this is a dumb question but if I buy staggered wheels (19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 back) can I buy the same tire size around (like 245/35/19)? I ride on the highway alot (PA/NJ/NY) and these roads are not the best and I don't want a horrible ride. If I remember (I am a layman at this) but the bigger the middle number, the larger the sidewall and hopefully more protection (and comfort) of the wheels.

Any assistance (and education) would be appreciated

You can if you want to but you are defeating the purpose. Do your math as well. The sidewall is a ratio number. One of our sponsors, the tirerack, has a pretty good writeup on this.

if you do install those 245/35/19... they will be stretch alot on a 9.5" wheel...

if you do not want a horrible ride, i'd recommend running 245/40/19 fronts and 275/35/19 rears...

Thanks for the reply. I may want to buy wheels but they have 275/30/19 rears
and 245/35/19 fronts (staggard setup, 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear) and from the pictures, I think those are lower profile (and harsher) than your recommendation. Am I accurate in that statement?

yes those 245/35/19 fronts and 275/30/19 rears will give you a harsher ride compared to having a set of 245/40 fronts and 275/35 rears....
