My '97 E420 needs new shocks and possibly springs. Help with recommendations
Just drove the wife's car for a couple of days, and noticed it seems to bounce and rebound quite a bit especially in the rear. The car has 90,000 miles on it so I figure I might need new springs at the same time. The car is on stock 16s, and I do want a slightly firmer ride from stock (I always felt it was too soft), but only slightly so. I am planning to sell the car in about a year to pick up a 2004 E500, so replacing just the shocks might be the ticket. Thanks for your help.

i would say Bilstein HD is your best buy. you can also look into E55 AMG shocks which are slightly stiffer, but very expensive.

If you are definitely selling the car find the lowest priced shocks and springs. Don't waste the money going to High Performance stuff and the car will be gone next year. Good Luck.

I wouldn't bother with new springs, but definitely look into new shocks. If it really matters to you, get the Bilstein HD's -- otherwise, see if there's a less expensive alternative out there.
