Toyo T1-R is a pretty good rain tire. I have a set and haven't had any hydroplaning issues at any speed, even in the hardest rain last November was able dish out.

the Goodyears are excellent in the rain providing it is not below 40 degrees. If you are seeing temps that low you may want to consider a performance winter tire like the Dunlop Winter Sport 3D or an all-season tire like the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
Actually I am delighted with the Goodyears (never thought I would say that).
When I visit Tire Rack.com, the Goodyears are now over $400 a piece. Bridgestone would be my prefered brand.
