Will winter tires be noisy?
Even though I live in Maine, it seems like I actually find myself driving through snow relatively few days out of the winter. So I'm thinking of getting some all season tires and see how that goes.
Suggestions?
I think most higher end premium winter performance tire are pretty quiet but if you opt for the most aggressive tread pattern like the Nokian you may find them a little noiser than your summer tires.
Do some research and ask friends / colleages on how they like their snow tires and ride with them and see it yourself but for me noise is only a very small factor I am considering when shopping for winter tires (I live in Toronto and our winter gets pretty nasty sometimes) but this is just me.

All seasons are iffy...maybe ok for snow but NG on ice - see the great Tire Rack tests comparing performance, I think, using the same brand of summer, all season, and dedicated ice tires.
