Wheel size question for S500 Sport
I just purchased a used 2004 S500 Sport and am confused about the wheel sizing and tires.
It has the staggered AMG wheels, which I thought were 18 inches. When I measure the diameter, however, it comes to 19.5". Am I measuring it the right way? The tires are the staggered 245/45R18 and 265/40R18, so I am assuming the wheels must be 18. I just don't know why the actual measurement would be 19.5.
The other issue is that the seller gave me his snow tires (Blizzak), which are already mounted on 7-spoke tires (the kind you normally see on an S430). The tires are 225/60R16, so I am assuming these are 16" wheels -- but the actual diameter measured is just over 17". Is the measurement difference due to the same reason causing the discrepancy on the AMG wheels? And more importantly, is it okay to use these winter tires on the S500 Sport?
