psi question for Luke

I just bought Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D XL from trerack for my '06 c230 ss. My local installer inflated the tires with nitrogen @ 45psi because on the sidewall of the tire 50 psi max. However, that doesn't match the manufacturer's recommendation on the door jam 30psi front/32psi back.

I read some where if the tire is over-inflated, the center will prematurely wear. Also, if the tire is under-inflated the edges will wear. The ride is definately harder with 45psi as well. I don't want to wear out the tires unevenly, so what would the appropriate psi be for me?

depends on the weather
the basic rule of thumb is to follow Mercedes recommendations because they are based on the weight of the vehicle ... you changed the tires not how much the car weighs

And find a better local installer. Preferrably one who knows what they are doing

Thumbs up Reduce the pressure

Going to the dealer tomorrow, they have a special on nitrogen – free. What I have read about tire pressure and nitrogen pressure, there is no difference. REDUCE THE PRESSURE. You are exactly right about the ware.

I prefer a blend of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and a little argon and CO2.

Thanks I'll do that.

The installer was a preffered "price plege" Tirerack installer.
