snow tires/wheels for 2003 S55

snow tires/wheels for 2003 S55
In order not to worry about warranty issues, any wheels available ( MB factory approved) to mount snows on for a 2003 S55 AMG? As a result of the larger brakes on the 2003 S55 AMG, I am not sure which wheels will fit and handle the S55 torque and weight. Am I stuck buying 4 of the new style twin spoke OE wheels?

There are really no warranty issues with changing to aftermarket wheels. Your rear wheel is too wide (18X9.5) for any available snow tires. Double Spokes are high priced right now from dealer and not many discounters like Tire Rack have them yet.
Some Options:
Buy 2 new 18X8.5 front AMG Double Spokes for the rear and mount 245/45/18 snow tires all around.
Buy 4 new 18X8.5 AMG Double Spokes and 245/45/18 tires all around.
Buy 4 AMG W220 5 Spokes ($319) from the 2002 S55 and use the 245/45/18 all around.
www.tirerack.com has a recommended 17" snow tire package using 225/55/17 but the wheels is aftermarket.
When searching for snow tires also consider the "H" speed rating.

Dunlop Winter Sport M3 $199
Michelin Pilot Alpin $179
Pirelli Winter 210 SnowSport $247 (H Rated)

put on 255 mich pilot sport a/s in the front and 275's in the rear. you will be need the 255 to match the o.d. of stock 245's. the rears come in the exact size as your factory tires.
did this same set up on a 2001 s500 sport (same tires/size as s55)
call luke at tire rack, he will know what to do.
these tires are all season...not pure snow, but a good compromise.
I have been using these in chicago snow for 2-3 years with good success.
