michelin pilot sports vs. xgt z4's

Just got my 2000 E55. It came with pretty new Michelin Pilot XGT Z4's. I wondered if anyone felt there was perceptible difference between these tires and the Sports that I believe were the OEM tires, or with the All-Season Sports. I live in Northern Cal where we have a lot of rain (especially this year) but very little ice and no snow, at least where the E55 will be going.
Also wondered if anyone had any experience with the runflat version of the XGT Z4's (XGT Z4 ZP's)?

Keepin' the yellow triangle with the exclamation mark lit...

answered my own question...

I checked out the tirerack's website for testing of the Michelin Pilot series. Sounds like I might enjoy the Pilot Sports better in my climate...and not see the idiot light or feel the ESP kicking in so much...

depends on the weather
The Pilot sports are excellent tires but, there are a couple of ohters to consider as well ...

Potenza S-03 Pole Position
Pirelli P-Zero Rosso

The XGT Z4 is an all-season tire which does, by design, sacrifice it's dry and wet traction to have some ability in the snow.

Gotta love that! (but is it because you have your ESP 'turned off', or is it because your such a maniac ... even with ESP on, the ESP warning light is always lit regardless? ... either way, its all good!).

Congrats again on your new 'toy' ... and Welcome to the Forum (BTW).

Exclamation

The esp switch is kinda like the "full engine power" switch and light in my Corvette ZR-1...which is the reason I went for the E55 instead of an M5, which was a nice car didn't measure up to the ZR-1 as a stickshift sportscar. The Benz is a different animal, a great cruiser like the 454/390hp Corvette with a Turbo-Hydro that I had years ago, but with a ride, comfort, handling and braking to boot, great engineering, really light years beyond those beloved '70s musclecars.
