2004 C230K sedan: Can 7.5" wheels replace 8.5"? Luke?
The C230 has a staggered tire fitment: 225/45-17 on a 7.5" wide wheel in front and 245/40-17 on a 8.5" wide wheel in the rear. Since the rear tires are shot, I was in the market for 2 rear tires. Staying with Michelin's is ~$400, so I am looking at pulling the old AMG Monoblock II wheels out of the basement and buying 4 tires for about the same price. These AMG wheels will likely be used for mild winter months as I hope to soon have 19's for the other 8-9 mos.
The AMG wheels are 17 X 7.5 35mm offset and were previously on a 1985 190E. The wheels came with their own lugbolts. Once wrapped in 225/45 tires, will the AMG wheels fit flawlessly on the C230? Specifically:
1. Will the lugbolts with the AMG's be of proper length and thread for all 4 corners?
2. Any issue with a 7.5" wheel and 225 tire in the rear?
3. Is there a drastic offset difference between stock and AMG wheels such that the rear AMG wheels would look swallowed by the fender?
Need tires on the rear wheels at least asap. Thanks for the help.
